  • The Nature Center is a hidden treasure of L.A. County. With clearly marked trails of 1/4, one and two mile lengths, anyone can find their ideal path. Many of the trails are along a brook or a lake, en...  more »
  • This is a lovely place to spend a few hours. Take a stroll and wander in a nature center in Long Beach! Would recommend.  more »
  • Around the middle of long beach and Anaheim is a large nature park. Rich in water and greenery, saw several small animals such as birds and squirrels. The trail about 2 hours walking.

  • Well preserved nature in the east of long beach in the heart of El Dorado Park. True getaway from the more busier parts of town. It offers quiet walking paths with lots of squirrels to be observed. It encompasses a small lake with turtles. Dedicated volunteers help keeping this awesome facility up and running for you.
  • It’s Spring Break and where do you take media obsessed kids and adults? You give them all a healthy dose of nature! We ditched the electronics for the day, steered clear of crowded amusement parks, and resisted the temptation to exchange the phone screens for the movie screen today. Big surprise... we enjoyed the day and lived to share the experience! We plunked down the $5 (weekday price) cash only entry fee for our vehicle. What a bargain! Where else are you going to only spend five bucks for some quality time with your squad? The Nature Center offered some displays about local wildlife, touch friendly tables, and bird identification. Along with a fun little gift shop, and live insects displays, the center offers clean restrooms, tips for wildlife friendly home gardens, and friendly staff. There are three trails available. We started off by walking the 1/4 mile and added the one mile. We skipped the two mile trail in favor of going for frozen yogurts, but decided it is definitely worth another visit in the near future. We spotted squirrels, ducks, lizards, geese, California cottontails, and a snowy egret. We took a moment to listen to the chirp of birds in the trees. We caught a cool breeze as it rustled through the purple sage. We connected with nature and each other instead of our phones, tablets, and computers. Do yourself a favor and stop by the El Dorado Nature Center.
  • This place is a gem! The staff in the center was amazing even with out crazy group of Cub Scouts. They were attentive and friendly. We took an awesome 1 mile hike as well. It was beautiful and peaceful and a perfect place for the boys. We will be back,!
  • There are two sides you can enter and each one is different. Either way, you have to pay $7 to get in to the parking, if you walk there i suppose its free. One side is just basically a huge park with a lake and little river flowing through; whilst the other is a nature center containing a beautiful walking path. The park sides lake has goose/duck droppings all around the lake, and it's not just a little here and there, it's piles of poop sitting on the cement like a pathway all along the sides of the lake. Other than that the actually playground was hard to find because you need to drive downaways through the park to get to it (whereas we just took the first parking spot 😧). The playground area has restrooms, picnic tables, grills and even the old school sand! The nature center has an awesome building as soon as you walk in, it's for the kiddos or any curious adult. It consists of touch and feel items such as animal skeletons, pinecones and other nature belongings. There's not too much more, but my kids (whom love tablets and TV) were hooked on everything for a solid hour. The building closes earlier than the entire park, which sucked for us! I think it was 4p.m. or earlier than that, can't remember.🤔 Sadly I cannot say much about the walk path, because i did not go through any, but from what I saw it was beautiful and worth a walk.
  • It was a Thursday and the place was hopping. Apparently a popular place for families who like to hike but still close to amenities since it's in the middle of an urban sprawl. I saw some wildlife like egrets, ducks, cormorants, squirrels and turtles which can be fascinating to children and nice photographic subjects for phitographers. A $5 parking fee and we had a little difficulty to find parking. So come early.
