  • Beautiful one- and two-mile trails! Perfectly gorgeous walk where you can't believe you're still in the city. Very peaceful place to get your steps in while chatting with a friend!

  • The nature center is a nice oasis in the middle of the city, There are options to do a shorter 1 mile trail or take the full 2 mile trail. The walk includes a mild climb up a hill, crossing over a small creek several times, passing through wooded areas that include a few redwood trees, traversing a meadow, and a walk around one of two lakes. The most stunning part of the nature center is the fact that it is 100% man-made. The hill is the material that was dug out of the two lakes and most of the trees were planted. The area attracts many birds and small mammals such as squirrels can be seen running around as well. If you are fortunate enough to be there in the quiet hours of the morning or in the evening during winter, you may get a glimpse of the resident coyote trotting across the trail. The nature center holds special events throughout the year including highly recommended night walks led by the rangers.
  • This is one of my favorite places in Long Beach. It is a great place to take kids, but it is also great for taking a relaxing nature walk. The visitor center has a lot of awesome things inside. They sell various books, rocks, science kits and other learning materials. My favorite things to buy are geodes from their. They only cost $5, they are pretty big and usually have pretty cool interiors (sometimes you get a solid one, still pretty, but not as cool). They also have small bottles of various crystals for a dollar each. They make a great mantle ornament. It is also an interactive center in that they have things like broken antlers, bones and other items that kids (and adults) can explore. They have a 2 mile trail, a 1 mile trail and a 1/4 mile trail so you have options depending on how you are feeling. None of them are very difficult. There is one area that has a few switchbacks that take you up a small hill, but it isn't very difficult. The trail is wide and well maintained. They are also two lakes that provide a great habitat for birds and the water turtles that live there. I've seen the following animals at the nature center (over many trips): Rabbits, squirrels, two types of water turtles, a grey heron, a white egret, a lot of lizards, some small fish and of course a whole lot of very cool and very old trees. Do yourself a favor and head over to the nature center. Take your kids on an informational outing, have a romantic (and cheap) date, or simply come here by yourself to relax.
  • El Dorado Nature Center Is so beautiful, you will enjoy walking on the trails, and for sure you would want to come again and again. A Picture can says a thousand word. This is an amazing park.
  • The best hiking place for a beginner like me not to mention it has a recreational side that is huge. You pay $7 to enter on one side and then you can take the path to drive to the other side
  • There is two different nature walks. One is a small cemented path. The other is natural walking path that is one or two mile paths.
