  • A lot of people go here to walk the trails for a relaxing workout. It's quiet and peaceful here. Good place for families to go. They gave a 2 mile trail, a 1 mile trail, and a quarter mile trail. There's also a small nature center building where you can see snakes, insects, and tarantulas. There's also real animal fur you can touch and deer antlers as well. Cool place.
  • I've always love going to this park since I was a kid. All I do is go for a walk on the nature center trails as well as relaxing at the fishing lakes. One of the greatest places as well as one of my favorite places I've been going to my whole life!
  • Such a lovely, peaceful spot. I love all the greenery, my 2year old loves spotting lizards, squirrels, turtles, etc...
  • This place has a well marked 1 mile and 2 miles flat loop trails. You pass by a nice lake and there are benches along the way. There is also a short stroller friendly 1/4 mile loop sensory trail. A great place to experience some nature and take a walk. Parking is 5 USD during weekdays, but the entrance is free.
  • The nature center is a nice oasis in the middle of the city, There are options to do a shorter 1 mile trail or take the full 2 mile trail. The walk includes a mild climb up a hill, crossing over a small creek several times, passing through wooded areas that include a few redwood trees, traversing a meadow, and a walk around one of two lakes. The most stunning part of the nature center is the fact that it is 100% man-made. The hill is the material that was dug out of the two lakes and most of the trees were planted. The area attracts many birds and small mammals such as squirrels can be seen running around as well. If you are fortunate enough to be there in the quiet hours of the morning or in the evening during winter, you may get a glimpse of the resident coyote trotting across the trail. The nature center holds special events throughout the year including highly recommended night walks led by the rangers.

Where to stay in Long Beach

Most of Long Beach's attractions are near the water, so look for accommodations around East Ocean Boulevard. Downtown sits right in this vicinity, so you'll find plenty of rooms in large hotels, many of which have undergone recent and extensive renovations. For quieter environs with convenient access to the beach, look for cottages, houses, and apartments for rent east of downtown. Many of these offer ocean views. Naples Island at the east end of the beach is Long Beach's toniest neighborhood; the prices of accommodations here reflect this.
