Alabama Hills, Lone Pine

Categories: Mountains, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.9/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web
With their stark and rugged beauty, Alabama Hills quintessentially represent the Wild West--so much so that a number of cowboy television shows and movies have been filmed here. These hills constitute part of the Sierra Nevada, though they are much more rounded and not quite as high as most of the range's peaks. Hike or climb the impressive formations to discover colorful wildflowers and surreal natural arches. Be sure to bring your camera and wear sensible walking gear. Put Alabama Hills and other Lone Pine attractions into our Lone Pine tourist route planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Crossing Lone Pine before going to Death Valley and Vegas, friendly visit of the Museum of the Western before going to see the sites of filming of the movies. The site is easily accessible from LP, and the quite passable track meanders through beautiful and impressive landscapes where many films, turned mainly but not exclusively westerns. A definite must!
