Alabama Hills, Lone Pine

4.9
With their stark and rugged beauty, Alabama Hills quintessentially represent the Wild West--so much so that a number of cowboy television shows and movies have been filmed here. These hills constitute part of the Sierra Nevada, though they are much more rounded and not quite as high as most of the range's peaks. Hike or climb the impressive formations to discover colorful wildflowers and surreal natural arches. Be sure to bring your camera and wear sensible walking gear. • I wound up in the Alabama Hills by tripadvisor's own statement. I was staying in Lone Pine and only had a morning free to then move on. Drive, I decided to meet this location with my dad, because it seemed to be the closest to us once we had a shorter timeframe. It was the best random choice possible!!! At the entrance of the road you have an absurd vision of the mountains with the city ahead, it's wonderful! As we enter the path, the rocky formations are incredible, including location where were recorded countless western movies (counting cards.) However, we walked a few more kilometres after we move the rocks and we came across a small neighborhood in the midst of all that nature. We parked and walked there in stumbling upon a landscape of mountains with snow to the bottom that is breathtaking, I was stunned with the mixture of grey and white mountains with the yellow of the field ahead (we were in the fall.) Worth a visit even more by MUITOOOO be near Lone Pine.

Where to stay in Lone Pine

Large motels are an ever-popular option, with simple rooms, relaxed atmosphere, and that feeling of on-the-road independence. Comfortable inns offer restaurants and outdoor pools and are the more upscale of the town's options, while campgrounds cater to budget-conscious travelers. None of the accommodations are located very far from Highway 395 and the town's amenities.
