  • The water was very low on our visit. It would have been great if someone would have mentioned HOW low... just a few inches deep in quite a few places. Spent quite a bit of time pulling the canoe. The ...  more »

  • We stayed at the riverside campsites. It was hard picking a site because the views from every site were so beautiful. So peaceful and quiet the whole weekend. I was expecting locker room style showers but I was so surprised to see a full bathroom with a locking door and walk in shower. A private shower at a campsite was an amazing plus! The staff was so friendly. Trash pick up at your site everyday. Couldn't have asked for a better place to camp. Recommending to everyone. Will definitely be camping here every time we're in the area.
  • My wife and I took the short 2 hour trip. It took every bit of 2 hours, but the river was low, so that's to be expected. The river was low enough that we got stuck a few times, but nothing we couldn't jimmy ourselves out of. We had a blast. The team at Hocking Hills Adventures makes these trips super easy. Take a seat pad. The kayaks weren't terribly comfortable.
  • We reserved a 10am canoe trip here, but they seem a little too relaxed about reservations, as even though we arrived when told to we didn't get in the water on a canoe until past noon! The buses to the drop-offs are basically whoever can fight their way on, and once we arrived at the drop-off site there weren't any canoes there! 20 minutes later some kayaks were delivered, but the delivery person didn't even seem to know that both my group and another waiting had reserved canoes, so we had to wait another half hour at this random spot, without any staff with us. This was the second time I have used this outfit and the first time we didn't have these issues, but they should definitely get a little more structure so reserved groups aren't waiting around for two and a half hours.
  • My wife, dog, and I had planned to go on the Trip #4 overnight trip. We looked at all the details on their website and planned accordingly. We saw that reservations were possible for all the trips, but not required. But to their cancellation policy, must be prepaid in full, and we had a gift certificate we wanted to use, so we did not make a reservation. So we packed everything up and got on the road to be there plenty early for the 4pm start time. I called several hours before the scheduled departure to confirm details...And was informed that even though we wanted just 1 canoe, not a holiday weekend, they weren't fully booked, and that website didn't say....we MUST have a reservation 48 hrs in advance...At first I blamed myself for missing that detail on the website and description, so I came back to double check, and no where does it specify a reservation is mandatory 48 hrs in advance...Thanks guys, thanks
  • Really didn't enjoy my stay at the canoe livery there wasn't anything special, basically just staying in your backyard. The onto access to water was in the showers so be prepared to bring many gallons of water with you for washing your utensils and such. There was no garbage pickup at the sites as described. We ended up leaving 2 days early because the bugs at the campsite were so bad between the swarms of bees and wasps, and mosquitos we simply couldn't take being bit anymore. The sites were also disgusting there was bags of fecal matter in the bushes clearly visible and many many pairs of nasty shoes, beer cans and broken glass so do not bring children that may wander into the nearby sticks and bushes. This isn't a campsite for kids because there is nothing to do its as plain as it gets. The showers were scalding hot and had no airflow which was especially terrible on a 95 degree day, you can't adjust the heat and thank god we didn't bring kids with us because the showers would have most definitely burned them, it's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
