  • Love the park. Hate all the narrow roads leading into it and the traffic is horrible. But this is not the Parks fault.  more »
  • We tent camped for one night at this park along a road trip of AR in early May. The site was very scenic, and we were close to the water. Facilities were clean. I think we were the only tent campers. ...  more »

  • Beautiful park!!! We camped for 1 night. Site B5. Sites were clean, paved, long and fairly level. There was enough room on our site to park our boat next to our rig. The bathrooms were clean and bright. There are many riverfront sites. We got a site across the road from the river and it was almost as good as a riverfront one. The park also offers sites away from the waterfront which are large and nicely shaded. We'll be adding this park to our "must stop again" list. I would recommend reservations if planning on staying there over the weekend.
  • What a wonderful place. We had a site (A13) right by the water. It was quiet and peaceful, and so much so, we decided to stay a second night. Our neighbors were mostly geese and ducks with a few herons. We didn't use the comfort station, but I suspect it was quite clean as the sites certainly were. This is a large place and all the sites are close to water. We did have a tornado warning during the night, but fortunately, all was calm. Definitely stay there if you have the chance.
  • This park is really nice. I had a spot right on the river and had a cool time by the fire watching the river barges. The access roads are wide enough and the spots are easy to get in and out of. It's a great place to camp for Pennical Mt. The sites were very well taken care of. The staff was Southern friendly. I'd definitely stay here again.
  • You can't ride jet skis in Maumelle Lake. You can't swim in Murray Lake (Arkansas River). There are no hiking or biking trails, you have to drive to the next park. What's the point of this park? Unlike other reviews, the bathrooms are horrible! Feces smeared all over one stall, showers don't work due to faulty shower heads or no hot water. The camping spots have years and years of asphalt laid on top of one another, elevating your camper so high that the bottom step of your camper will be nearly two feet off of the ground requiring you to go to Walmart and buy a step stool. The camping spots are fairly level, however they are extremely narrow and if you have slides you might have interference with a tree. The final straw was that both the 50 and 30 amp Breakers are very old and need to be replaced, we tripped the breaker every time our hot water heater would come on. These are the type of things that do not happen at Arkansas State Parks which are run by the Army Corps of Engineers. Even the website shows two people on jet skis making it seem like Lake Maumelle is perfect. I would suggest avoiding Little Rock all together and spending more time in Hot Springs near Oauchita Lake, Lake Catherine, De Grey Lake, and Lake Greeson. Cossatot Falls is near any of them and offers more to do outdoors than all of Little Rock.
  • Excellent campgrounds. Recommend for everyone to go enjoy the beauty of this park. Will stay there every time we are near Maumelle.
