I'm Jennifer's husband, and I wanted to post this. I haven't played here in three years, but I remembered how well I liked it then, even though it got the better part of me. I played with my son and D... read more »

Our golf group of 24 have been going to MB in April and again in September for 24 years. We have played almost every course there. There are some outstanding courses at MB and we grade the courses more on how well we are treated at the courses than the course itself. River Hills is at the bottom of that list. The starter there is one of the reason that "what was good about good southern golf" has almost been destroyed. I think that they should change from "no you can't do that" and more to "sure you you can". I don't see how trying to make $50 is best when you might lose $10,000. I would never recommend this course for a group.
If you like water holes, this course is for you!! If not, stay away. 14 of the 18 holes have water. 17 was just impossible, having to hit 2 shots over the water. Played this in the World Am. Course was nice but too much water. Go drink somewhere else!
Course is very narrow with water on almost every hole. Greens are wide but shallow. In addition the greens are firm. Combined with the size and they are very hard to hold with longer clubs. Course was in ok shape. Clubhouse was average but did not have much merchandise. I'd rate the course a 5 out of a 10.
We played this dog patch on Sept. 26, 2014. We had had a lot of rain the previous three days and we were expecting cart path only which we were informed of when we checked in. The first 5 to 6 holes were O K but on # 7 and thereafter it was horrible. They had ventilated and over seeded the fairways after the rain. With the fairways in this muddy condition you couldn't walk across them the equipment had torn them up so bad much less play golf off them. After we finally finished in this mess I went to the Pro Shop to complain and I was told they didn't know the condition was so bad. If no one had checked how did they know to make it cart path only. We was not offered a rain check for any part of our round. I book a seven day trip every fall for our group of eight, I will make sure that RIVER HILLS GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB IS NOT ON OUR PLAY LIST.
My friends & I took a trip to Myrtle Beach in October of 2012. We played 7 golf courses in 7 days. We all agreed that River Hills was the nicest course we played that week, so much that it is now in our Top 10 Golf Courses of all time. The condition was great, the staff was friendly, & the layout is AWESOME!!! I would highly recommend River Hills to any golfer that is heading to the Myrtle Beach area. IT IS A MUST PLAY course for our group from now on!!!!!
