  • After a 4 mile drive on a dirt road we arrived at our destination. 4 wheel drive helps but is not essential. Views were amazing from several look out areas. Great spot for a picnic.  more »
  • Went there on a cloudy, early Fall Saturday. It was busy, but not annoyingly. There are several lookouts at the end of a mostly flat paved walkway from the parking lot. This is handicap accessible! Vi...  more »

  • Best view in the State of North Carolina! It's a rough dirt road to the top. Once you reach the parking, the viewing area is a short 5-10min walk away. April 7, 2017 edits. There have been work crews making improvements at the view. They have cut some of the view restricting scrub brush down, added new signs and importantly smoothed the road to the top. It's a tremendous improvement since my first review. There are still some slight "washboards" in the corners but overall it's a much better road to the top.
  • Stunning view of the gorge, Table Rock, and Hawksbill Mountain after only a short, paved walk. A gravel road leads to the overlook, which can get washboarded and dusty quickly, but the drive is well worth it. Campsites and other trails are abundant along the road leading to the overlook.
  • Excellent view. Very short hike from parking. Long Rocky drive to parking lot.
  • One of my favorite places to take in the wilderness of Western NC. A great "cliff like" view down to the Linville River and Table Rock and Hawksbill Mtn's on the other side of the Gorge. Sunset or sunrise are truly awesome here but be sure to drive a truck or car you don't mind getting rattled to death. The road isn't in the best of shape so don't take your nice vehicle out there.
  • This is my favorite view in the NC mountains so far, wow, breathtaking! The nice part about this is you can drive there and then the short path to the view is paved, so it's handicap accessible. Driving there is down a 5 mile dirt road, which is really fun to drive. I did it in a smart car, so anyone should be able to do it :-) We hiked the falls trails and then got in the car, continued down the dirt road to this place. Go, it's very much worth it!
