Admire the architecture and artwork at Nebraska State Capitol. Both the inside and the outside of the 120 m (400 ft) capitol are adorned with symbolic friezes, mosaics, and murals that depict both the world and the Nebraskan heritage. The tower provides excellent views of Lincoln and is capped by a reflective, golden dome that features a 5.8 m (19 ft) sculpture of the Sower. The building offers many amenities, including a cafeteria, gift shop with Nebraska-related books and memorabilia, restrooms, and a private room for mothers with children. Free guided tours of the capitol are readily available. See Nebraska State Capitol and all Lincoln has to offer by arranging your trip with our Lincoln holiday planner.

  • The outside of the capitol is cool and the grounds are nice. The inside is kind of dark hallways, so not as interesting. Not sure if you can go to the top or not.
  • It is a nice building . It was built from 1922 to 1932. With a nice appeal to it. The view from the top is really nice. The library is also pretty
  • If I am not mistaken, Nebraska is the first to join the Union after the Civil War ended, and its capital city was named after Abraham Lincoln, to honor him. The area around the State Capitol is beauti...  read more »
  • Ten years in the making (1922-1932), this huge limestone building, nicknamed “Tower on the Plains” for it's one huge, 400-foot tower, which can be seen for 30 miles on clear days. The building also includes over 20+ murals, a Lincoln Monument, and so much ornate detail. When you are in Lincoln, it's certainly worth the visit for so many reasons. Even the bathrooms seem like they're from the 30's. While the ventilation system that was installed 50 years ago was ground-breaking in it's time, a project has started to begin replacing it with a 100+ million dollar version to keep everyone at the proper temperature. Enjoy your visit.
  • Despite the recent controversy over Nebraska's new license plate design, or even the somewhat unimpressive exterior of the capitol building, the Nebraska State Capitol truly is a beautiful sight to take in if you give it a chance. The impressive architecture, beautiful designs on the inside, and the amazing view from the observation tower make this building well worth the visit if you're looking for something to do while visiting Lincoln.
  • A very impressive and grand stone building. Not the best Capital building I have seen, but definitely not the worst. I would recommend a stop by for anyone visiting Lincoln.
  • Great view from the 14th floor. Everything has an old feel and vibe from it. The elevators were old style and the architectural design itself was also very retro.
  • It's such a fantastic building. So much history. All the art inside is beautiful. Could spend countless hours here.
