Wailua Falls, Lihue

Categories: Waterfalls, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web
Although Wailua Falls once served as a jumping point for proving manhood, today the natural wonder is a popular destination for hikers and photographers. Normally, the falls split into two streams, and occasionally break into three; they can become one wild stream during particularly rainy periods. A short walk from the parking area will deliver you to a view from above. A longer hike down through the forest gives you a view from the bottom up. This hike is steep, muddy, and slippery, so it is usually discouraged. If you decide to give it a try, take plenty of water and bug spray. • A quick drive to this waterfall and a short walk to the overlook. Not much else to do there, but there is a nice lady selling breads and cookies.
  • The road and parking are a challange but you will not be disappointed. The lady selling fresh bread at the lookout is so cool. Her freah baked treats are amazing. Be patient with the parking lot thoug...  read more »
  • Great looking waterfall, a few spaces where you can park for up to 20 minutes. It's a little tight in the car park and you'll find a fee traders selling drinks and souvenirs. You can't get close to the falls and must take pictures from a viewpoint above.
  • Another awesome waterfall you should see if visiting the island of Kauai. The parking is a little tricky and if you try to get the best spot by driving all the way to the end of the road you may have a hard time turning around. If you want a little exercise, it doesn't hurt to park early and walk a little and enjoy the scenery. Pay attention to signs and don't climb over the fence. Yes, when I was there someone had jumped the fence to get the perfect photo.
  • Beautiful waterfall, you have to climb to get in the pool under the fall (dangerous and you need time). Sometimes you have to wait until you get a free parkinglot.
  • Stunning waterfall! Beautiful views, don't step over the guard rail!
  • Iconic falls and scenic views. Worth the short drive to the viewpoint.
