  • My title says it all. The cave is not a cave it's a deep hole in the side of a rock. Not else much to see there.
  • Love this park. Daniel Boone cabin on site. Great walking trails by the river and up and down hills. Great picnic area. Love to walk the dog here
  • Small park by the Yadkin River...Local legend has it that Daniel Boone used a Cave in the Park by the River to sleep in on his travels. Nice Walking Trails and observation decks. Nice Shelter for Pic-...  more »

  • Went camping here this weekend. Clean restrooms, well stocked with supplies and with hot and cold running water and flush toilets- real luxury for a primitive or semi-primitive campground. Tent pads were reasonably level, although a couple were washing out and needed repairs. Campsites were a little too close together for comfort, but since I was the only one camping there, it wasn't a problem. The only drawback was that the campsites were 100 yards from the parking area and down a somewhat steep hill. Lugging tent, cooler and equipment up and down that hill was not a lot of fun. Easier access would make for a much nicer experience. I didn't do much hiking because it was blistering hot when I was there, but the few trails I covered were cleared and mostly well maintained, though a few steps near the river were beginning to wash out and in need of some repair. The park ranger was friendly and helpful, even offered to bring a load of firewood to my campsite. All in all, it was a nice experience and I will definitely return.
  • Great trails!!:) Awesome signs showing plant species and names. Very beautiful and quiet, lots of bugs though so bring your spray!!! Really cool history to the park and the region!!!:)
  • Great park for weekend car camp. Tents setup nicely with multiple fire rings and lantern posts. Semi primitive site can accommodate nine tents. Bathrooms within sight with vending machines. Trails require moderate effort.
  • Nice trails, beautiful river, awesome feeling to go into cave thinking where Boone may have camped.
  • Great trails to hike. They have made tremendous strides in improving this park.
