  • When I come o Lancaster I like to shop for authentic homemade things. A lot of the shops have candles like "Yankee Candle". I wanted the real homemade kind. Hayloft makes their candles right onsite. T...  more »

  • The candle store is nice. They have some nice handcrafted furniture and while I didn't get any, the ice cream looked so good. Here is why I am giving two stars... The petting zoo left me very sad and regretfully we saved the petting zoo for last. Why even call it a petting zoo? you can barely even pet the animals with the scary looking metal gates. There has got to be so many violations at this place. The animals look like they are locked in their cages all day. some barely have anywhere to walk around. They don't look like they are taken care of. Water bowls were empty, hardly any grass , animals look so dirty (yes I know animals should be dirty but this looked ridiculous for a petting zoo). I would not recommend going to the petting zoo if you are an animal lover like me. However, I would still recommend checking out the candle store and trying the ice cream. Just do yourself a favor and avoid the zoo. There are plenty other petting zoos in Lancaster County that are much nicer than this one.
  • Nice place to take your family for an afternoon followed by ice cream.
  • the best ice cream... fun for kids and adults
  • We dig this place. Good destination for a Saturday afternoon ride. Tasty ice cream, fun for the kids. The animals are fine-- if you essentially see animals as equal in status to humans, you'll likely not approve of any petting farm. But you should understand that there are a range of valid views on the issue. The Amish seem to see animals in a more traditional/utilitarian way but generally seem quite humane in their husbandry practices.
  • Free petting zoo for the kids! There are quarter gumball machines that you can get feed out of. Feed the ducks/geese on the beautiful pond while taking a pleasant walk around it on the paved pathway. If you're not into a walk there's a small gazebo that you can sit in right beside the pond and feed the water fowl from. On the same side of the pond is the rest of the petting zoo. A very nice setup if you don't want to have to travel far.
