  • The Mount is a beautiful property and building. You can tour the home of Edith Wharton but may be disappointed if you are a purist as the furnishing are not to her period. (If you're a purist you must...  more »
  • This place has a history, firstly as a house designed and built by Edith Wharton, then as a family home; a school; a delapidated pile and finally a restored tribute to a bygone age. The guided tour of...  more »
  • A brochure for an outdoor sculpture display drew us here. We never expected to be so blown away by all the rest. The gardens are beautiful, not too "straight line" and super-colorful on a late autumn ...  more »

  • This is a fascinating tour with a very knowledgeable guide who told the story of Edith Wharton within the context of the house that she designed and built. Some of the upstairs bedrooms are museums describing many events taking place in her life. The renovations and restoration of the house and grounds is nearly complete so the price of admission is invaluable in providing funds for keeping this significant house and grounds operating. There is a luncheon and snack bar just outside the main floor under an awning. With the extensive gardens this is a place that should be scheduled for 3 or 4 hours of your time.
  • Jazz on the terrace, Friday and Saturday evenings. Glorious and free of charge. A gem of the Berkshires.
  • Lovely facade! Feel at peace here on top the Pet Cemetery. Lie down. Play dead. Be dead!
  • Very interesting.
  • Visited here for a jazz concert in 2013. Even though it rained, it was such a beautiful ambiance, beautiful house, exquisite grounds, stimulating history. Looking forward to visiting again in 2014. We tell all our friends about it.
