Specialty Museum Museum
Over three decades in the making, the Comanche National Museum and Cultural Center (CNMCC) offers fascinating insight into the largest American Indian tribe in the Lawton-Fort Sill area. CNMCC is more than just a traditional museum. It is an experience that brings to life the "Nʉmʉnʉʉ," both past and present.

In 2001, the Comanche Nation received a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Grant for the planning of a tribal museum. Discussion for a museum had begun 20 years prior; however, nothing materialized at that time. With NEA funding, the Nation held a series of meetings with several tribal museums with the aim of developing a cultural center/museum for the Comanche people. Five years later, in September 2007, CNMCC officially opened its doors. CNMCC is funded by the tribe’s Gaming Contribution Fund, which does not include federal funding.

  • The progression of art and history is terrific. Sculpture and paintings. Also a description of the Native American Church. We had a delightful history discussion with the historian at the front desk!  more »

  • I visited today with my daughter. The museum is free. It's a very beautiful place. I loved all the artwork and artifacts. I was pleasantly surprised to see the donated painting from Johnny Depp. I will definitely visit here again with the whole family. As you leave, don't forget to leave a donation...it is very much deserved.
  • Nice place. Great prints by Little Chief.
  • I was surprised by the cost but was even more surprised at how much fun the museum was. It was worth it. Every exhibit was hands-on. Loved the volunteers in the trading post and the typographical sand box!
  • Very informative staff
  • Took my grandsons today and although it is rather small, we all liked it. Had some interactive things to do and it was informative overall. Would recommend to check out if you are ever in Lawton and want something to do with the family.
