Coolray Field, Lawrenceville
(4.6/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
Coolray Field is a 10,427-seat minor league baseball park in Lawrenceville, Georgia. It is the home field of the Gwinnett Braves, the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.HistoryCoolray Field hosted its first regular season baseball game on April 17, 2009, a 7–4 loss to the Norfolk Tides. The stadium site is located approximately two miles (3 km) east of the Mall of Georgia along Georgia 20, between Interstate 85 and Georgia 316.The 44acre site was previously farmland and forest. An additional 73acre of mostly forest around it became a mixed-use project, after a February 2009 rezoning by the Gwinnett County Commission. Naming rights are held by Coolray, an air conditioning and plumbing company based in nearby Marietta. The stadium construction and maintenance is being paid by the taxpayer-funded Gwinnett County government, but the Braves will keep most of the revenue from ticket and concession stand sales. The municipal bonds used to pay for the stadium run for 30 years (until 2038), but the Braves have an option to back out of the contract after only half of that time (in 2023), if the county does not maintain the facility at an acceptable level. This would leave county taxpayers responsible for the remainder. Although this relationship between the Braves and Gwinnett County appears unbalanced, the sales tax revenue that the county will bring in from the sales at the stadium will allegedly benefit the county more than the cost of the stadium.

  • I went to a game with friends. It was a nice, relaxing evening. Reasonable prices on food and drink. No big crowds.
  • A great place to catch a game and enjoy the atmosphere of a baseball game without having to travel to Atlanta. A fun time for the whole family.
  • Really enjoyed the ball game on Friday. This is a great AAA ballpark, easy to get to and comfortable while you're there. Lots going on for those who are not big fans of the game. Finally more developm...  more »

  • I think Coolray is a decent ballpark but compared to Charlotte, Durham, and Nashville they just don't measure up. I love watching the Braves play so it is not a bad stadium it could just be better. Parking is plentiful but the traffic getting into the stadium is a major headache. Don't wait until nearly game time to try and get in this place or you are going to be late for the game.
  • Cool ray field. I went on Monday July 4th 2016. My aunts birthday. Game was at 7:00p. There where lots of concessions. I stayed for the fireworks show. That was amazing!
  • This is a great little AAA baseball stadium. There isn't a bad seat in the house and the prices are really affordable. Right now they are playing for the championship and you can get a great seat that includes food very reasonably. We have gone as a couple and taken a church group there and always had a great time.
  • Very cool place to see a game. Literally looks like a pro field
  • Nice place to catch a local baseball game at very fair prices. It's important to note that the way the stadium is built, not much wind really makes it to the actual seating area, so it can start to heat up pretty quickly. Overall, I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit!
