The iconic Welcome to Las Vegas Sign represents a popular photo-op for tourists visiting Sin City. Designed by Betty Willis, the sign was erected at the south end of the world-renowned strip in 1959 to encourage tourists to visit. It seems the 7.6 m (25 ft) tall sign has been a success--today it attracts several hundred visitors a day eager to get their photo with the landmark. Best accessed by car, the sign stands at the side of the highway and features a small parking lot for visitors. You'll find an attendant on-site to corral the line of visitors who will take your picture for a small tip. • It is a long way from the strip. you really can't walk it so you need to take the local bus and even then you have a little bit of a walk. Would not recommend it for someone that has problems walking
  • easy to reach with free parking... however, it was very busy whenever we went past... all times of the day... so get there at dawn to avoid queuing for a parking space and then queuing again for a pho...  read more »
  • The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign is the door way to the Entertainment Capital of the World. From its creation in 1959 to this very day it is one the most photographed places in the world. If only it could talk, the stories that it could tell. It has seen countless political officials, to movie stars, and people from every corner of the earth. It's iconic symbol is free for anyone to use because the creator Betty Willis as a gift to the world never trade marked or copy righted it. On your next trip to Las Vegas make sure to stop and get your picture taken at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign because it will be one of the best souvenirs you can get to remember your trip.
  • This is a must visit for anybody traveling to Las Vegas! Best to go at night. They normally have people on site that will take your picture for you, to provide light on you and get the sign all in one shot. They do it for free but only work for tips, so please tip them.
  • The famous sign. When we came to take a picture the heat was unbearable (especially thanks to the wind). As its so famous there was a line of people, and a guy was managing the line (so people wouldn't skip), and helped people take pictures if they wanted to.
  • It's OK, there are hoards of people there throughout the day and a photographer will want to try and charge you for a picture but you can just take a picture yourself without paying anyone. It's more interesting to visit the Harley Davidson garage next to the sign. Also unless you're happy walking a good distance in the desert heat, take the Deuce. I walked and it took 30mins each way.
  • It was really cool that I could stop right near the sign and take pictures. It's really cool to see an iconic landmark that exists in all types of media in person.
