  • If you arrive at good time all over the place can go quietly; in spite of the area's history is small is well structured and detailed information. The coffee meal is rich but close early (3 pm), so it is advisable to arrive early. Very cool in my opinion.

  • This is a nice museum, with modern exhibits, movies and actual historical items well arranged. It addresses the flora and fauna of Nevada, its history and prehistory and has interesting special exhibi...  more »
  • We just planned an afternoon to spend for this attraction. But, once we have arrived there, we discovered that it would be a smarter choice if we came here earlier. This place is humongous. Thought it...  more »

  • As an out-of-stater who just wanted to learn more about the history of Nevada, I was sincerely frustrated that I could not visit this museum without paying for an unwanted entrance into the Springs Preserve. I don’t have kids and was not interested in going into a “preserve.” I only wanted to visit the Nevada State museum. If it was possible to give no stars, I would. The price to visit this state history museum is outrageously high for a non-resident.
  • I enjoy Museums, they offer a lot of informative information. Employees are great, its kept clean as well.
  • My complaint is for the employee who stands in front of the ticket counter. I say "I'm looking for the State museum." She says "Well the state museum is closed, but you can buy your ticket at the counter right here." Then she turns and starts assisting the other people walking up. I say "Wait a minute. So you just said the museum is closed?" She says "Yes all museums are closed right now but they all require you to buy a ticket which you can get right here." What? If it's closed why would I still pay 17$ for a ticket? Very confused. Was she just trying to get me to buy a ticket to see the preserve instead? Also, it's 3:15pm why is the museum closed? The website says open until 5pm. I left of course.
  • Love this place!!! This is a must as is the State Museum in Carson City to discover our Western heritage!
  • A hidden gem that needs to be found by locals and visitors alike.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas hotels increase their room rates on the weekends, so if you have a flexible schedule, avoid Fridays and Saturdays and take advantage of package deals that include shows, meals, and gambling coupons. Remember also that if you stay at any one of the lively casino hotels, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep for the duration of your trip. If you come to Vegas to stay but not necessarily play, try one of the non-gaming hotels or explore the quieter areas surrounding the city.
