Mermaids Casino is a casino located on the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino's only gaming options are slot and video poker machines.HistoryWhen the casino opened in the summer of 1956 it was the first two level club in Las Vegas and the motor stairs, connecting the casino with the lower level restaurant, were the first in Southern Nevada. In 2007 Steve Burnstine purchased the nearby business of La Bayou, Girls of Glitter Gulch, and Mermaids Casino.Mermaids (along with its sister casino, La Bayou, across the street) are amongst the few remaining casinos that cash out in real money. Most of the other casinos in Las Vegas use a cashless Voucher system, which may be redeemed either at the cashier counter or at one of the ATMs.

  • The beloved Mermaids is now just a fond memory. It is closed. It was the last of the fun little mini casinos in downtown Las Vegas. Sad.
  • I was at the casino last May and the personal are very friendly, they make you feel very comfortable. I forgot my cell phone one night and next day they gave it back to me!! Security it is marvelous. ...  read more »
  • Very small casino right on Fremont street. Fairly loose slots I thought, friendly staff and the comped drinks came quite fast.
  • Where do I start!? Well first off let me say I'm super saddened by the closing of this gem. I had so many great memories there. The staff was always great the frozen drinks were AMAZING and the environment was so much fun! Mermaids is what drew me back to Vegas! I will be getting married this summer and my fiancé and I we're super excited about going back to celebrate and now on my birthday this casino will be closed😞! I hope there is something bigger and better in store for Mermaids! 🙏🏻 I called the casino today to see if I could order a shirt or a sticker or something, but no luck! So if the owner see this I'm sure many of us would love to buy a small piece of this gem on Fremont! 🤗
  • I went in today at 4pm to get french fries. When I passed the front noone asked for ID or anything which isn't unusual because Im 19 and look like an adult and none of the other casinos ever ask. While I was waiting in line an old security man pulled me out of line to ask for my ID. I was thinking "really? You're pulling a customer buying fries out of line for their identification??? You couldn't have asked me at the door" I was very offended and gave a 1 star review. But since the owner took the time to reply to my review and mermaids does have some pretty good fries I gave it 3 stars. I would give it 4 but I'm still kinda mad I didn't get my fries.
  • Love this place. Sad to hear it's closing this summer. I'll be sure to hit this place up next week to get my last fill of frozen daiquiris and deep fried oreos & twinkies. Hope whatever replaces it pays homage to it in some way.
  • I spend a lot of time on Fremont st I visit once a month. I am so sad they are closing down great people and fun. I will be coming next month just so I can say my good byes
  • We visited for an evening of gaming. Pretty cozy and a little run down, but exciting atmosphere. They have the cheapest food (Nathan's hot dogs, fries, etc) we found on Fremont Street!
