Fremont Street Experience, Las Vegas

4.0
#1 of 6 in Historic Sites in Las Vegas
Experience the vibrant splendor of endless lights and entertainment under a 27 m (90 ft) vaulted canopy at Fremont Street Experience. The pedestrian mall stretches five blocks through downtown Las Vegas, lined with eclectic shops, street performers, and nightly entertainment. Pay a visit to the Neon Museum or take a wild ride on the 12-story Slotzilla zipline. There's a spectacular light and sound show in the evenings, and often a free concert on one of the mall’s two sound stages. While parking along the Strip is free of charge, you must pay a small fee to park at the mall. • This was quite the experience but definitely worth it! A lot of strange and fun people, a lot of lights and lots of place to buy souvenirs and gifts! Definitely would recommend! :)  more »
  • Took my children to see the Freemont street show and they weren't impressed. I remember how awesome it thought this show was when it was new. It was before every home had huge TV's and iPhones. The st...  more »

  • As a local, I prefer Fremont over the strip. It is my go-to place to go for birthdays and when a large group wants to hang out. I love it because it is (mostly) free entertainment. This is where I like to go with my extended family because the adults can drink but the teens can still tag along and have fun too! Then there is Fremont Street East where there are the most adorable and fun bars.
  • Fun place to hangout! A lot to see, the people watching is like no other place in Vegas. The live music was good, souvenir shops are decently priced. The only thing I don't like about it is if you stand in one place too long someone is going try to sell you something.
  • If you go to Fremont Street make sure you visit Slotszilla. 115 feet up. Strapped to a steel cable laying down. 35 mph. Watch out for the stop though, it's pretty violent. Down on the street. Awesome band. Tons of bars. Heart video playing on the roof. Need to visit Fremont. The best experience ever. Lots to do. Lots to see. A whole street of interaction.
  • Always a great stop. Some "performers" on the street just make you shake your head- but better than holding a sign looking for handouts. Some of the people have a true talent. Like that the access to some classic casinos are pretty convenient. Hoping they embrace the old classic casinos in the future and don't just demolish them for newer, modern buildings. Some need to realize it is "old school" Vegas and when walking down Freemont, it's like a blast from the past. Good to see they are resurfacing concrete to look cleaner, have multiple officers walking & biking for safety, and staff keeps the area clean overall.
  • The Hotel Grand is a good place to stay and Freedom Beat is probably a more normal restaurant for most. The casino is also a good place to start then work your way out into 'the experience' to visit the other casinos. The crowd is decent street entertainment is regular and the live music is always a plus. A great visit for anyone.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas hotels increase their room rates on the weekends, so if you have a flexible schedule, avoid Fridays and Saturdays and take advantage of package deals that include shows, meals, and gambling coupons. Remember also that if you stay at any one of the lively casino hotels, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep for the duration of your trip. If you come to Vegas to stay but not necessarily play, try one of the non-gaming hotels or explore the quieter areas surrounding the city.
