Went on a large family vacation, where we rented 3 rooms. The rooms were not that clean and outdated. There was actual dust still in the airvents. H aving young kids, we had to walk to a different bui...  more »

Ate at the Paradise Buffet on Steak night and Prime Rib night. 15.49 for all you can eat conjured up images from Vegas Vacation. I could not have been more wrong. The foodesk was amazing!! They don't give you a steak knife because the meat is so tender you don't need it. Staff is awesome as well...super friendly and attentive.

Nice, cheap rooms. The a.c. wasn't that great though. We had breakfast at the buffet. It was pretty good and worth the money. Enjoyed the casino too. Overall, definitely a great bang for your buck.

I paid for a room with two queen beds but was given a room with two full beds instead, and they refused to switch me. The rooms here come with no basic amenities. No coffee pot (unless you ask for one), no fridge and no microwave. I had to call the front desk 4 times over the course of 8 hours to get a coffee pot sent to my room, and when I brewed the first cup, the machine sprayed boiling water all over me. I reported it to the front desk, and no concern for my well being was shown nor was there any attempt made to replace the pot. The toilet continuously leaked onto the floor and despite multiple calls to the front desk, the problem was never fixed. The housekeeping staff rudely woke everyone in the room daily by banging on the door before 8am even though a Do Not Disturb sign was clearly posted on the door. When I actually called to request housekeeping, they asked us to bring the trash in the room out to them in the hallway.... This hotel also requires that you use their valet to park for whatever reason. Overall a very sour experience with this hotel and I definitely will not stay here again, nor will I refer anyone. Save yourself the headache and stay elsewhere.

Everything was amazing here. Good atmosphere. The buffet is the only reason that are not 5 stars. It was mediocre at best. It advertises sushi but had3 rolls to choose from. Only one had imitation crab meat, the others were vegetarion pieces. It had Variety of different types of foods but each only had 2 or 3 dishes of that style. Most of the food was prepared well but the types of food had little too pair with it. I will be back to the casino but not the buffet.

I recently visited Fremont Hotel and Casino on, of course, the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. The casino is a no frills venue which features your typical plethora of table games at low to medium stakes. Drinks are free if you're gambling and reasonable to low priced if you're not gambling. I don't play slots so I have no opinion on them but I imagine they're your typical money gobblers. The casino staff are exactly what'd you expect at a budget casino. The dealers at the tables are mostly break-in (fresh out of dealing school). Their skills are proficient but shaky in some areas. If you're not at a table with a break-in dealer you're probably going to have a hardened veteran dealer who is probably wishing you'd just leave. Some of the cocktail waitresses looked hardened from years of putting up with drunk gamblers who are too cheap to tip a dollar for a free drink (so toss them an extra $1 if you have it) and the other cocktail waitresses are attractive and have yet to start down the road to being hardened and jaded. There are some diamonds in the rough working at the Fremont who let their humanity poke through through their unemotional exterior and please you with a smile when you treat them with respect that humans deserve. Francisco working at the back bar is one such man. Overall I would say go to the Fremont and enjoy yourself but just don't expect to be overwhelmed with great service in a great environment.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

Most Las Vegas hotels increase their room rates on the weekends, so if you have a flexible schedule, avoid Fridays and Saturdays and take advantage of package deals that include shows, meals, and gambling coupons. Remember also that if you stay at any one of the lively casino hotels, you may not be able to get a good night's sleep for the duration of your trip. If you come to Vegas to stay but not necessarily play, try one of the non-gaming hotels or explore the quieter areas surrounding the city.
