  • Free parking. Free parking is very important in Las Vegas in this day and age. The El Cortez does require you be a customer to use the parking garage. That's okay. Just parked in their parking garage then go into the casino and spend $20 in a slot machine. The El Cortez is one of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas. I've been going there ever since I was in high school and before I was allowed to gamble. I really dig the Hipster Vibe of the place especially East Fremont itself.
  • I generally enjoy staying at the El Cortez. It has excellent location near Fremont Street, and the local bus stop to the Strip. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I couldn't connect to the wifi this time, but that may have been my device. Overall, I recommend staying in that hotel.
  • Very nice and helpful staff, but unfortunately the place smelled like cigarettes since they allow for that. The penny slots required 40 credits per bet minimum, so not penny slots. No drinking fountains, but free cup of water at the bar for which I tipped $1 per drink. I recommend to always tip your bartender at least $1 per drink including water to keep them happy and since they live on tips.
  • For starters, i was not a guest of the Hotel. I just went in to grab some drinks from a small bar to escape the Vegas heat. Bar service was fast and friendly. Nice Mid-Western ambiance. I would stay there if i had the chance to some time.
  • The newly remodeled ElCo isn't much different from its old self. Still a good bargain, still full of the older crowd playing slots, still full of low limit fun to be had. Drinks are cheap and plentiful, and the remodeled rooms are pretty darn nice. The "Cabana Tower" across the street is pretty sweet, and just far enough away from the casino.
