What a great time at the Downtown Grand Casino. We played here a couple nights during and walked away with more than I started with. Since I am not a big gamblers just playing the slots was enough for... read more »
A nice accommodation if you don't mind walking through a casino to get to the lobby and s lot of noise!
I like this casino because it's different from the norm in downtown Vegas. While I certainly love the historical casinos, it's nice to have a place that's a big more modern and trendy, just for a diff... read more »
Clean throughout, strange shower design makes things weird showering and it takes longer due to logistical issues. Bare minimum amenities, food is plain. Noise level from concerts and pool is ridiculous, but I was mostly able to sleep. Nice little casino to hang out at, but cocktail waitresses don't speak to women at all. Had to order drinks through my husband. They also hold personal conversations for 20-30 minutes at a time without circulating the floor. Nicest place to stay in this part of town, but I recommend it for sleep only. They also never disclosed that there would be a $250 room deposit for each room. Nice surprise.
A rather nice hotel, even if the rooms were a bit bland. For an over night stay it satisfied my needs. The rooms were clean, the showers were a bit too over designed, but overall a good experience. I would recommend it.
So far pretty terrible. The first day the pool was broken and about 80 degrees. I also cut my foot on a broken piece of tile. The second day wasn't as bad, they just had quite a few broken machines and had us waiting for about 30 minutes for a ride to the strip. The third day is by far the worst. The power has been out in my room now for about 2 hour. That means no AC, TV, or lights. We still have 2 days to go, who knows what will happen next.
It was fun to stay downtown once. Fremont experience was good. The free music and bands were super fun for my teenaged soon who is otherwise excluded from some entertainment. The neighborhood and crowd is decidedly rougher and seedier than the strip. There are almost naked people on every corner and scantily clothed women on a couple bars. My 16 year old was interested but really pretty embarrassed. He asked a couple times if the ladies were well paid or not. (I sure wish they were but suspect not.) The first night i went to a Motown band party at the pool of the hotel. That was amazing! I wished I wasn't so tired. I swam while the crowds danced. The music was great. I could have stayed for hours but had to get sleep. The other nights the music varied. The idea of a pool & dance party with live music is great. It's free and the bar is there if you want something. The rooms are nicely decorated in a modern style. I had a sunrise view of the hills in the distance. I enjoyed it. The cleaning staff was super nice and helpful. Coffee is across the street in the mornings. No breakfast. No refrigerator. Ice every OTHER floor. Parking is across the street in a public lot. The hotel disclaims any help with parking. Friday night it was so full and several of us were circling waiting for someone to leave. I had to use valet. Also at times it didn't feel safe. I had to go in and out on my own a couple times. If I wasn't 6' and 50, i think I wouldn't have done it. As it was, my 6'5" son and i had trouble one night. We braved it well, told management and sailed on. But when I told friends and my husband, they worried for us. So, if you like the safe feeling of the strip, stay away from this hotel. My main complaint is the pricing. Double whatever they quote you. I have been assured by many people that this is the case everywhere in Vegas. I don't know about that. It's only my third time. By the time you add tax, resort fees and what the hell else was in there?!!?! it's double what you thought. We didn't charge meals to the room. We are not big gamblers. We were there for a basketball tournament. But there you go. That's the way is in Vegas.
Rooms very clean and comfortable. Did have to request a refrigerator which they got up to the room quickly. Downside was the noise from downtown bands. They do supply ear plugs though. Pleasant service and good location.
