  • This museum is a true historical walk through time; it has a LOT of cars, but so much more! If you have a few hours to spend, you won't regret it
  • Went by here to try and get some info on my Dad who was a football player in LaPorte back in the 1940's. Was directed to a guy who also played for the Slicers and had actually coached them as well. He...  more »
  • They have an amazing collection, including one of the best and largest collections of antique firearms I have ever seen. I really enjoyed the automobile collection too.
  • Definitely a heck of a museum. I had the chance to volunteer here and I must say, this is a pretty great collection. The museum itself is huge and has a professional feeling that most county museums fail to emulate. Despite the floor space, the museum is crammed full of stuff. There is a vintage car collection owned by Dr. Kesling, a very large antique gun collection with some really unique and bizarre weapons, a group of period rooms demonstrating common life throughout the years, and a whole load of events that keep you coming back. Don't be fooled. It may be a county museum, but it is far larger than any county museum ( and even some official museums) I've ever seen. It also has a massive, well-maintained archive that is invaluable to research. Maybe I'm biased due to my work there, but it is still a seriously impressive museum and well worth the look for locals and travellers alike. It really brings home the past.
