Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales

4.7
On the National Register of Historic Places, Bok Tower Gardens sits atop one of central Florida's highest points. Spanning nearly 100 hectares (250 acres), this site features winding paths and secluded clearings. The Singing Tower, a 62 m (205 ft) tall Gothic-Art Deco structure, features a carillon with 60 large bells. You can wander through the gardens to find many varieties of blooming flowers, endangered plants, and tranquil pools, many designed by famous landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. While in the park, keep your eyes open for the 126 different bird species, as well as tortoises and snakes, which call the gardens home. • This was such a wonderful place to visit. Family friendly and good for all ages to spend a couple of hours or the whole day at. They have a wonderful kids area that was newly constructed and it involves some learning as well. Loved seeing the mansion and the Bok Tower, they play a song ever 30 minutes and you can hear it no matter where you are on the property. *Make sure you bring some quarters with you so you can feed the GIANT coy fish in the pond going around the tower. I can’t wait to do a picnic on our next visit.
  • Just lovely! We had salads that were good. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they really seemed to want to share knowledge with us. Don't pass up the children's area, if you're child free, it was shady and adorable. The guide and 2 other ladies in our group loved it. Look for the fairy houses. We were blessed to hear the carillon played, and even joined in with some folks laying back in the grass! Totally worth the time and can't wait to go back.
  • My boyfriend and I came for Valentine's day. At the gate they gave us a special coupon for the gift shop and then they played romantic music from the tower all afternoon which made the day really special. The gardens were beautiful, and clearly well cared for. I also didn't know Mr. Bok was buried in front of the tower which is so fascinating to me! Worth the trip, and we will be back.
  • What a great place. Be certain to go during the time when the Pinewood home is open to the public - if you wait staff after 2 you'll be waiting in a long line. Go before 9 am and it's 50% off. Bring a lunch and make a picnic or just go to the new cafe just outside the information building. Prices very reasonable - lots of salad & sandwich choices. Unlimited fountain drinks.
  • Spent an entire day here with the family. Loved the gardens, the bell concerts, the visitor center - really everything. One of the highlights of our visit though was to be able to tour the Pinewood estate (1930's era mansion winter home). Bok Tower Gardens is really special - very clean, educational and fun. The children's learning and play area was I think the nicest we've ever seen at a garden place like this. Highly recommended for a peaceful and beautify day!
