45 North Vineyard & Winery, Lake Leelanau

4.1
#5 of 15 in Wineries in Leelanau County
Located squarely on the famed 45th parallel, 45 North uses its distinct location as the driving force behind its approach to crafting world-class wines that represent the region. Using grapes from estate and regional vineyards, everything is hand-crafted on-site with the ultimate goal of producing the most approachable, elegant wines possible. Aside from red and white varietals, they also make a variety of fruit wines sourced from locally-grown fruits like peaches and strawberries as well as experimental dessert wines such as 45 Gold, a bourbon-barrel-aged apricot wine. The rustic, post-and-beam barn nestled in the trees next to the vineyard sets the scene for an unforgettable tasting experience accompanied by warm-weather activities like bocce ball and live music, and cross-country skiing during the winter.

  • Favorite vineyard for years! Great food pairing, fantastic wine. Make sure you stop in. Fill a case with bottles.  more »
  • This is one of my favorite wineries in the Leelanau area. Have been there when they had entertainment and just to sit and relax.  more »
  • The service and attention was incredible. The farm like setting was great for pictures! The white wines were perfect for the hot summer weather. I can't say enough about the place!  more »

  • Out of all the cherry wines I've tasted in northern Michigan 45 North is my favorite. We went to six wineries today and all had friendly staff, but Jesse at 45 North was the best! So friendly and personable; you made our day! Thank you. Go to 45 North and ask for Jesse, you won't be sorry.
  • Nice looking place but didn't care for the wine at all. Also a lot of flies in the tasting room, even had one get in a glass of wine. Didn't buy any wine and will not return.
  • With one of the best and most relaxing of all the Leelanau tasting rooms and a wide variety of excellent wines, be prepared for competition - it can get busy so go early or at an odd time. I go here specifically for their very good reds, while my wife enjoys the whites, either way, you won't be let down.
  • If you have never been it is a must go! Otherwise it's a skip as it loses a little charm. On seasonal days expect a tour group. Staff is very knowledgeable. Wines are ok. Plenty of space to get a glass and relax. They need to bring back the port wine.
  • This place was amazing! Our friends got married here over the summer, and it was absolutely beautiful. The staff were on top of things and really made it a fun experience. Not to mention, the wine was delicious!
