London Bridge, Lake Havasu City
Categories: Bridges, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
The 1831 bridge that once spanned England's Thames was purchased and dismantled by Robert P. McCulloch in 1967, and relocated to Lake Havasu City. McCulloch completed London Bridge in 1971, after shipping the original parts from London and working on the reconstruction for his planned community in Arizona. Now, you can visit this piece of British history in the United States, as the concrete bridge is clad in the masonry of the original. Walk or drive over the Colorado River on this historic structure that traveled piece by piece across the Atlantic Ocean. Worth taking a look if you are allready here. A real american story, kind of a story that could only happen in America. At least that is how it felt for a Scandinavian.
It was relaxing and nice. It is especially nice midweek with very few people around
Hot hot hot and kinda wierd. There at end of July in the middle of a trip from Flagstaff from LA this was a welcome 10min distraction from the desert drive.
Beautiful place to visit! Lights at night on bridge are pretty. Lots of good places to eat.
