  • We have been here a few times when we've been in Colorado. I think the place is magnificent. The views are gorgeous. The road is kind of washboard bumpy, but we stop every couple hundred yards and jus...  read more »
  • Lots of fishermen in this canyon, but a delight of nature...first time saw lots of fish in the water, otters right nearby. second time, saw a bald eagle overhead...lots of fishermen both times.
  • My partner and I drove across from Colorado Springs to the Eleven Mile Reservoir last week. After purchasing a park day pass ($7 from the main office) we rented a tandem kayak from the marina ($40 for...  read more »
  • We camped at Rocky Ridge.. It was right next to the outhouse. All night long we could hear people shuffle down the dirt road with their flashlights illuminating our tent. I used this facility one time and there was poop splattered everywhere. So we drove to the flushing toilets and showers. The showers are cold! They we not clean at all. Hot and windy! Not impressed.
  • Beautiful Lake area. I went fishing. The lake reminds me of an ocean. It is, indeed, about 11 miles long. Mostly dirt roads; $7 fee to park. The area is so rural and quiet for a large lake: that's because there are no airplanes flying, and no cars. Such a pristine area surrounded by mountains on all sides.
  • Was there 5-9 June,2016. Hardly anyone there. Site was fairly level. Electric was satisfactory. 30A outlet will probably need to be replaced soon but was safe. Beautiful scenery, fishing and boating. Rained a few times and very windy but for the most part, weather was great. I would have given the park a five star review but due to one factor I had to down-rate it. The dump station. This is a very nice dump station with the exception of no water for flushing. I would have thought that with the availability of water this would be available. The concrete pad was messy from previous use with toilet paper laying around. No way to get rid of it. Hopefully this will be remedied soon. I will definitely return to this park again...
  • It's beautiful, but my husband and I wanted to go fishing, and there were fire ants EVERYWHERE! We tried 4 different spots. The first spot we were ambushed by seagulls, and swarmed by the fire ants, the rest of them were nothing but the red devils. One foot on the ground and they were up our pants or mysteriously on or in our shirts. We had our 4 month old son with us, and couldn't put down his diaper bag, or tackle; I accidently dropped some of my bait, it popped open and seriously couldn't pick it up again! We were fighting fire ants all the way home as we had stow aways in the car. :( We had one day fishing passes, and we drove over an hour to get there to just turn around sore and disappointed. Never going out of our way to you there again.
  • Love the views! Camping facilities are clean! Lots are decent sized and as good as you can expect camping at a state park. There are VERY few trees so if you come here expecting them, you will be sorely disappointed. Hike in sites are BEAUTIFUL but BE PREPARED for about a one mile hike! It isn't easy in the daytime so don't be stupid and come expecting to do it in the dark! Yes, the ants do get bad in the summer...but you are outside so learn to deal with it! Love the hiking trails but unfortunately not too much to do other than hike, fish, and boat. No body contact with the water means no swimming or wading so I suggest planning a trip to the Hot Springs near Buena Vista while you're here! If you have any questions the staff are ALWAYS willing to answer them or help you in anyway they are able! As long as you're expectations are reasonable you will have a great time!!
