  • Wonderful gem. Off the beaten track, but well-worth the time and travel. It's in a natural setting, so you have to watch your step and in some areas it can be a little tricky to maneuver a stroller. A...  read more »
  • Love having a staff member talk to us about the lions in great detail. Then for the fist time to see them awake and hear them roar was amazing. Very clean place.
  • We have been to the country zoo several times and it's a nice 2 hours in a comfortable wood setting. The staff is friendly and they have a nice gift shop.
  • We had an amazing time here. I'm glad I didn't go by all of these ridiculous reviews. My 2 year old LOVED IT. the animals were fun to see and actually interacted with us, especially the monkeys and pigs. The staff is helpful and super friendly. If people are complaining about animals in cages, they shouldn't be going to a zoo. The cages seemed fine honestly. They were clean and the animals were moving around pretty freely. If you are expecting to see the giraffe, he is no longer there. He passed away last year, We will definitely be going back!
  • This is our second time there. Last year with our daughter when she was 1 and this year as a 2 year old. Lol. Our experience was horrible. Paths are horrible. You need an all terrain stroller to maneuver through them. The enclosures seem too small so animals sleep in depression or pace in their enclosure. Its very hard for children to see exhibits due to over grown weeds and dirty windows. There are no bathrooms except all the way down by entrance (we're potty training so we had to rush down the steep rocky path to get to bathroom on time). The best part of the entire zoo was the bird feeding and turtle town. The petting zoo area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time and you need change to get feed but we were unaware of that prior so we only had bills, no change. All the enclosures seemed very rough and dirty. Lastly the staff wasn't very customer service oriented. Very few say hi or even acknowledged customers. We had hoped for some new exhibits from last year but nothing was different if anything it looked more run down. I think we're going to try Lake Tobias as a replacement. If claws and paws decides to change it up we'll come back but today was a waste of $50.
  • I love this place! This was my third time here and my entire family had a great time! I love the way everything is set up in the middle of the woods, which is different than the industrial feeling of other zoos. Chins and bring your family, they'll have a great time!
  • In al fairness, this review is based on a visit we made a few years back. Back in the mid-eighties, a few friends and I came here and had a good time. The animals were lively, there were shows and it was fun. Fast forward 25 years and it's a different story. My wife and I went here in mid June and it was not a great experience. The animals seemed lethargic and not well kept. The grounds were not in great shape and there were no shows. The whole place seemed run down. Hopefully, things have changed for the better, since then, and the animals are being better taken care of.
  • Went with almost 2 yr old ad he had a blast. Make sure to inquire about their feeding of animals times (the do twice a day in morning and afternoon around 1pm). We were lucky to arrive in time . Fed partots, petted giant turrtles, fed goats, deers. Has nice area for fossil digging in sand. Felt bad some of larger animals secure in small valts.... but all of them seemed well taken care of. Rats run in area of food court, well its outdoor space....
