Laguna Art Museum is a museum of California art. Its purpose is to provide the public with exposure to art and to promote understanding of the role of art and artists in American culture through collection, conservation, exhibition, research, scholarship and education. Working within the tradition of the oldest cultural institution in Orange County, Laguna Art Museum documents regional art and places it in a national context. The museum maintains its historic ties to the community and is responsive, accessible, and relevant to the area’s diverse population.

The museum’s exhibitions, catalogues, and educational activities illustrate an ongoing examination of California art, which includes historical and contemporary art. Through collections, publications, and research on the art of California, Laguna Art Museum promotes understanding of the role of California art and artists in the development of the visual arts nationally and internationally.

"Laguna Art Museum is the county's leading museum for California art, and rivals the Orange County Museum of Art in its presentation of contemporary art. Curator of Exhibitions Grace Kook-Anderson brings a fresh perspective to the mix. Indeed, the Laguna Art Museum has done more in the past couple years to attract a wide variety of visitors to its galleries than any other visual art institution in Orange County."

  • Nice small museum in the heart of Laguna Beach. Enjoyed my recent visit and experiencing the Peter Krasnow exhibit. Staff was very friendly and admission very inexpensive.
  • Laguna Art Museum is a beautiful museum and it is in a great location. The exhibits change every few months.
  • Always a great place to visit. Excellent gift shop, too
  • Good. If nothing to do can stop by.
  • Laguna Art Museum is located on Cliff Dr. next to Las Brisas. It's hard to miss! When we went they had the Elizabeth Turk exhibit and Lita Albuquerque's particle horizon installation and a collection of California artwork. There are 3 floors to this building but the museum is small. We were done within 45 minutes. I wouldn't go out of the way to come here unless you happen to be in the area.
  • Laguna Art Museum (LAM) appears rather small from the outside, but it houses 3 floors of art. The top floor is very small and you have a view of the entrance and one of the rooms. The bottom floor is dark and the bathroom is located here as well. It was the last day for the Wayne Thiebaud exhibit, so I headed over to view his art pieces before they were gone. They even had a small room with a few chairs to view an interview Thiebaud had about his art and it's impact on modern culture. The LAM is very open. It's minimalistic design and 1 center bench in the major rooms makes it feel much larger. The staff is kind and the location is perfect. Keep the museum going and donate.
