The Festival of Arts has offered a breathtaking showcase for artists and art lovers for 80 years. The Festival’s prestigious juried art show includes a wide variety of media such as paintings, photography, printmaking, sculpture, jewelry, handcrafted wood and furniture, ceramics, glass and more - all by 140 of Orange County’s finest artists.

On each evening of the Festival of Arts summer schedule, ticket holders are amazed and enchanted by ninety minutes of tableaux vivants ("living pictures"), incredibly faithful re-creations of classical and contemporary works of art, with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces. An outdoor amphitheater, professional orchestra, original score, live narration, intricate sets, sophisticated lighting, expert staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers have won recognition for the Pageant of the Masters as the best presentation of its kind.

  • Living art is the best way to explain this event. Bring binoculars as most of the show is only on the stage and not projected on a screen (few exceptions). Art collector? bring a big big wallet. There is an art gallery before/after show. Beer/Wine/Coffee is available and some theater type foods.
  • A must see if your in the SoCal area and are into the arts. The best way to describe it is that it is a little like taking a theater performance and mixing it with an art gallery. It took some convincing to get me to go the first time (when someone first explained it to me, I thought, "how boring", but I've been going for about 7 or 8 years now and I'm always in awe of what they are able to achieve). For the full experience, I suggest making reservations for Tivoli Terrace, arriving nice and early to browse the aisles upon aisles of artists works, enjoying some dinner, and then watching the presentation. Bring a jacket or sweater just in case. I've never rented the seating pads, but on occasion we'll either bring a pair of binoculars or rent one of the minis - not really needed if you're in the front or middle sections. Programs are fun the first time you go, but aren't really needed either. Don't go too far during intermission - the times goes fast.
  • One of the top things to do in Laguna beach. Arrive one hour before the show to visit the art collection. There is also food and alcohol. Parking might be a problem, if you dont arrive early. Use the free shuttle.
  • My gift to Self is to be at the Pageant on my 78th birthday! Love love love Pageant - for more reasons than easily expressed. If you cannot be there, make a donation of a ticket or two for others to enjoy. 80 years of beauty and love and fun and creativity! Thank you, Pageant -- see you again the end of August. Gentle as you go, Marny Vista
  • If you haven't seen the Pageant of the Masters show, is one of the most fascinating live events you can see in southern California. As hard as it is to describe, just imagine seeing classic masterpieces being brought to life with a team of nearly 100 volunteers dressed and made up as the actual characters in the paintings. Guaranteed to make for a fun evening!
