Inspirock Rating:
4.6/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Take in the unspoiled natural beauty of southern California's coastline at Crystal Cove. The 1,592 ha (3,936 ac) park offers 5.1 km (3.2 mi) of clean beaches and tide pools, as well as a 566 ha (1,400 ac) marine conservation area and bluffs and canyons throughout. Take a shuttle from the parking lot along the highway to avoid the strenuous walk down to the shore. The surf is gentle and ideal for swimming, boogey boarding, and searching for shells and sea creatures. Visit the restored cottages in the Crystal Cove Historic District to see where people first settled before southern California had its population boom. If you plan in advance, these quaint cottages can be rented out quite affordably. • Crystal Cove Cottages is a hidden gem. They are renovated cottages built in the 1940s. You have to make reservations for a cottage six months ahead on the first of the month. I went on in April 1st an...  read more »
  • Great state park with beautiful views and peaceful beaches. Great waves. We would return if back in this area to spend more time at the park
  • The only reason I didnt give it 5 circles is the parking is 15 dollars. State beaches up in ventura and north LA County are 8 dollars. Good paved trail runs length of the park. Several trails give you...  read more »
  • Crystal Cove is a beautiful beach that isn't as crowded as other tourist beaches I've been to. Sure, there's a small crowd on entrance, but a few steps down, you can set up for a spot all to yourself. Good way to get some peace and quiet with the waves by your side. Parking can be a bit of a pain as there are limited spots. Be sure to come early (or late) to make sure you get a good spot.
  • MAN BEAUTIFUL BEACH!!! Brought my family to San Diego for vacation crystal cove 1000step beach is beautiful one of the most beautiful I've ever seen we as a family loved it and would relax and come again... The 1000 steps suck -.- lol but great beach
  • The beach was ok. The rocks really hurt me and my friends in the water. I have at least 10 scars all over my body! The walk to the Beach is 10 minutes. Unless you want to pay 1.50 for each person to ride to the beach. The only things that saved this beach from a 1 star is the waves being great for boogie boarding and the tide pools. I saw my very first crab in real life
  • Very clean beach and relatively quiet, great place to swim and relax. Parking can be a bit pricey but they do accept state park annual parking passes if you have one. For food there is the Beachcomber, Ruby's Shake Shack, and a strip mall across the street with Z-Pizza and a few other food options.
  • Love this place if you go at super low tide you can find all kinds of cool shells and creatures in the tide pools. Great place to bring kids for exploring, not so great if you have someone that isn't that mobille the walk to the beach is quite steep.
