Wasn't planning to dive during my visit to La Jolla. Turned out to be a great dive with a dive shop that was very easy to coordinate with. Gear was quality and suit was the right fit. Small group-just...  more »

I went out with Nick last weekend and had the experience of a lifetime on this trip! I truly have nothing but positive things to say. The crew were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful with anything i needed. Right from the start they were very welcoming and helpful. They had food and beverages to keep us refreshed and energized all day for the entire excursion along with these nice big jackets to keep us warm. Also Nick provided us with all the gear we needed and gave us all the knowledge needed to keep us safe and give us an amazing experience. The captain (who's name recently slipped my mind) was also great. Very personable and knowledgeable, a great addition to the crew and our trip. Nick was constantly working to keep the boat nice and to bring in the sharks. We had one blue shark come in and disappear quickly but then a couple hours later one came in and stuck around then shortly after that another one came in and we had two in the water with us. It was an absolutely amazing experience and i will most definitely return as soon as i can and i would recommend this trip to anyone brave enough to get in the water with the sharks. One thing that really stuck out to me and i liked was after talking to Nick i realized SD Expeditions was his company and it had started out as "some scuba gear sitting in his shower and a dream" as he said. I don't know about you all but i would support that over any bigger and "better" company any day. Also don't forget at the end of your trip to get the super cool new shirts that were "fresh off the press" as Nick was saying. Definitely the coolest thing I've done in my life. Huge thank you to Nick and the rest of the SD Expeditions staff and can't wait for my next trip out with you!

The staff here is awesome, very friendly, and truly consider the customer first! Last week of March I flew into San Diego for three days and wanted to go diving. I called a few places but unfortunately most places only do shore dives, or only do Fri-Sun, I wanted a boat dive and only had Monday available. I asked them for a recommendation and one name kept coming up from every one, SD Expeditions. They were on my list to call and I was impressed with their website; their dives looked and sounded much better than the other places. I called and told them my plans. The lady there took the time to explain about each of their dives, all sounded great, and asked me what I was most interested in seeing. They only had one other person signed up for Monday, then she told me do not worry she will make the dive happen for me and wanted me to have a chance to enjoy the waters here. This was awesome, she was amazing. She took down all my sizes, they provide all the equipment, and I did the paperwork on line. I flew in Sunday morning all excited, but unfortunately later that day the Maritime weather service sent out a small craft warning that a storm was headed in Sunday night and will last until Tuesday. They contacted me and sent me a copy of the warning. I was sad but impressed by how they handled the news and how they treated me. I cannot wait to come back to San Diego to dive with them. They have the best sounding dives (see the pictures and info online) and the staff is awesome, I was truly impressed. I recommend this place to anyone going to San Diego.

Oh My God... AMAZING! Ok, so before I'd decide to schedule the 2 dive sessions with SD Expeditions I reaches a lot. They not the cheapest place, but certainly the BEST in San Diego area. The representative I talked to on the phone was super nice and informative, answered every question I had and was very patient (comparing to other dive San Diego stores I talked to). Order process was easy and detailed. After the order I got 2 email, 1st receipt and confirmation and 2ed specification of my order and detailed instructions for dive day (things to bring and meeting point). One of their biggest advantages, is that all the equipment will meet you at the diving site and you don't need to pick it up yourself from the store. Second advantage, is that the equipment was super new and top quality! Everything worked like magic (and I'm very picky about it). Third advantage, Frank! Superb dive master..!! Years of experience and a lifetime of personality. Informative, professional, nice and interactive. Hell of a guy! Rather than that, Nick the owner was wonderful as well. Seems like Nick's great personality and atmosphere applies at all SD Expeditions interactions and outcomes, hope I'll meet more dive store owners like him! Last thing, the dive was fabulous..!! We saw decent amount of marine life: several different kinds of fish, lobsters, octopus, the famous Kelp, lots a ocean weed, and the best was swimming with seals...!! The seals actually playing with you underwater (a thing that our instructors, Frank, explained us how to play with the and not scare them). 2 things to keep in mind - general to dive at San Diego: 1. After scheduling your dive, make sure several days before the dive everything I'd OK. 2. Keep in mind that during Fall and Winter the ocean can be rough/stormy for several days a row, so your dive could not be executed in the schedule day and it will be postpone. Nick and Kyle run a great operation, and I was very impressed with their hard work and professionalism on our recent trip. It so happened that the in-water shark opportunities didn't materialize on our trip, but aside from that it was a great day. Kyle & Nick made every effort to make the trip a success, and I believe that was appreciated by all participants. While sharks were scarce, we did have great topside encounters and photo-ops with a harbor seal, sea lions, common and Pacific white-sided dolphins and even a humpback whale. Overall it was an excellent experience, and I'm already looking forward to the next time!

I went shark diving with SD Expeditions and had a wonderful experience. The dive masters, Kyle and Katie, were very friendly. They were quick to offer us food and drinks throughout the day. They also worked really hard to bring sharks to the boat. We saw hammerheads, seals, sea lions, dolphins, flying fish, and even had a humpback whale breach directly in front us. This was an incredible experience. I highly recommend SD Expeditions, as they have competitive pricing. Furthermore, the dive masters are very experienced and are more then willing to schedule private and personalized dives. Thank you SD Expeditions!
