  • If you're looking for fun, and beautiful scenery, this garden is it! They have beautiful ponds, flowers and fixtures! You can see wild life (frogs and birds) everywhere you turn! Running, walking or strolling along any trail gives you new perspectives of this gorgeous location. The food is delicious too!
  • I liked how there were plenty of different areas to visit. It's large and a lot to see. As for the gardens themselves they needed a lot of up keep. A lot was over grown and roses were not cared for, weeds everywhere. The bathrooms were very clean and nice. Descanso Gardens could be so much more then what it is. The gift shop was not that great, it would have been nice to see more things for the garden being sold as a posed to Halloween deco. Nice trails and big beautiful trees, they just need to maintain the garden.
  • I love this place. Great for nature walks, weddings and photo opportunities! I like that you can enjoy nature without having to leave the city. I've been going there with my family since my kids were in strollers until now that they are elementary age and getting some great pictures along the way. Entrance is free the 3rd Tuesday of the month, check their website for the exact day.
  • VERY disappointing. There was more variety in the planters around the visitor center than the actual gardens. The Japanese garden area - the main reason we went - was blocked off for renovation. It would have been nice to have been told this before, or at least while, buying our tickets. The "museum", the Boddy House, closed an hour before the rest of the gardens. This would also have been nice to know when I bought my ticket. Very few plants where labeled, and very much in need of TLC.
  • Descanso is an oasis in the bustle of the Los Angeles region. There are large paved paths that lead throughout the gardens but the best thing to do is to head off onto the smaller dirt pathways that lead into the heart of the camellia forest. The spring is an especially beautiful time as the flowers are in bloom. The house at the top of the hill is also worth a visit.
