Saw the sign on a return trip home and stopped. It was a really nice place and my 10 and 12 y.o. enjoyed it thoroughly. Was a bit pricey. Advise looking for a coupon beforehand. more »
A hidden "Gem" in PA Dutch Country. We went on a Sunday in October so many attractions were closed although we only went basically to see the cave. The tour guide was friendly and funny and the cave w... more »
So fun! My girlfriend and I went during the off-season and there were only 4 people total in the group. The video was a little dated but that wasn't a big deal for us, it wasn't thrilling or anything but it was still interesting to learn a little bit about geology. The cave itself isn't huge. It's definitely interesting, and the guide did a great job painting a picture of what society looked like in the 1800s and later as tourism in the area developed. The rock formations were cool and the lighting made them stand out, and it was fun using our imaginations to see shapes and figures in them. The staff was great, too. Our guide was funny and friendly and the people in the shop were nice and don't push you to buy anything. They've got snacks, like rock candy (of course) and alligator jerky, and there's a hand-dipped (whatever that means) ice cream parlor on the same lot. The ice cream shop was closed when we were there but that's not unexpected, it was in the low 50's. Your mileage may vary, we tend to have fun no matter what we do together. For what it's worth, I'd say $29 for an hour of fun for 2 people is money well spent. I'd recommend it to anyone, if you go in with a little curiosity you'll have a great time.
It is a nice attraction for the area. The underground caves are beautiful. They have other stuff to do above ground, that isn't quite as interesting. The tour guides are normally well trained and do a good job. Gift shop is surprising nice with reasonable prices.
Staff was very friendly and informative. And the tour guides we're welcoming and knowledgeable of the cave, plus they were very funny too and kept us entertained. Definitely worth the price of admission, sadly we went on a day were the cafeteria was closed and we we're not able to enjoy the food. But the ice cream was a nice treat. The souvenir shop is full of reasonably priced items ranging from crystal cave apparel, to all sorts of Crystals. Great family location with a trail to walk and a mini golf course for the kids. I loved our pit stop here on our way back home
A nice day trip. Everything but the largest or most valuable crystals in the gift shop is priced very reasonably allowing you to get yourself or your group several souvenirs. Be aware that the crystals the cave is named for are small and brown in color. You won't find incredible quartz formations of varying shapes and colors, but the guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and very patient with upset or excitable kids. The larger draw here is taking a tour of a cave, seeing some novel rock formations, and taking a relaxing drive through the scenic PA countryside. If you want to see impressive crystal formations, you may want to look up other show caves.
Very cool not the biggest inside but definitely worth taking your kids. Overall place is worth going too
