  • We enjoyed these gardens very much. The paths are easy to follow, the plants are beautiful, and we had a chance to see some geese, doves, and lizards up close and personal. The staff was friendly and ...  more »
  • Do not miss the Kula Botanical Garden. It is well worth the stop, and can easily be combined with a trip to the crater. In past years we drove by; this year we stopped. It is a beautiful, peaceful gar...  more »
  • This is worth a stop to see some nice plant material of the islands. It has some interesting specimens, being an upcountry area that are not found at the coast. At 8 acres, there are some nice grounds...  more »

  • It's lovely up at the Kula Botanical Gardens and very affordable, $10 gets you in the door for the day/$40 for a "season's pass". I went there with my mom and step-dad and we spent over 2 hours wandering the grounds! There are various paths/routes you can take - and the gardens are wheel-chair accessible. I wish there were more signs that identified more of the plants/flowers, but other than that - it's a great experience. You start & finish in the gift shop, where there are lots of local and hand-made goodies.
  • There is a great variety of beautiful plants. Many blooming in May, and clearly many just bloomed and more coming up. The path is winding with many detours. You take all left turns to make sure you see everything. There are wild chameleons wandering around. The koi pond had koi of all sizes. Children under 6 are free. Spent a good hour there.
  • While this isn't a massive garden it does have a ton of amazing plants and animals and is worth stopping by. I liked the chameleons the best :)
  • Let me start by saying that I love trees and plants. I feel about botanical gardens the way most kids feel about the zoo: stoked to run around and check everything out. So for the reviewers who say that they didn't understand the appeal, well if trees and flowers aren't your thing, then yeah, maybe a botanical garden won't be your cup of tea. Kula Botanical Gardens is relatively small compared to other botanical gardens I've been to, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in the diversity of plants that line its paths. Each step brings a new flower or tree to admire, and most are labeled with the common name, scientific name, and place of origin. One of the highlights was a small area whose theme was poisonous and deadly plants. In addition to plants, there is an aviary with some doves and love birds, a nene goose enclosure (I didn't see any), and a pair of Jackson's chameleons in a cage. I happened to walk by just as they were being fed, and as I was watching, the nice woman who was feeding them had to go tend to some customers, so I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to feed them! It involved grabbing live mealworms out of a bowl, and holding them up to the cage, in front of the chameleons, as the worms tried to wriggle free of my grasp. The chameleons tongue-grabbed the worms right out of my fingers. Very cool!
  • Kula Botanical Garden This botanical garden is family owned, and deserves to be supported. They have a small, but well stocked gift store. We spent several hours there during our visit in January, walking around and viewing the thousands of varieties of plants. We also saw a pair of nene here, which he have never seen during our visits to Maui. Very well maintained and an enjoyable place to spend several hours surrounded by beauty.
