Located in the center of downtown, Market Square is the bull’s-eye of the city in every sense. Founded as the regional farmers' market in the 19th century, the square was a common ground where locals and visitors from all walks of life congregated. After a period of decline, the area was revitalized, and today it’s a bustling pedestrian mall, dotted with restaurants, bars, and shops. Try some of the local or international cuisine, see a concert or street performance, and admire the works of resident artists and craftspeople. The historic square is also the perfect place to stroll with your pet or sit and people-watch. • love coming here for walks to see what fun things are going on. great place to take the kids. especially during the summer when they have free movies on the square.
  • Great atmosphere. Some good restaurants and music is normally the order of the day here. Fun place to shop or just people watch!
  • There is something for everyone on Market Square! Delicious restaurants and fun shops! Depending on time of year, my favorite, the Farmer's Market!

  • Market square is a neat place. Almost takes on a personality all its own. From the weekly farmers market you can find seasonal and local produce, hand made items, crafts, etc. There's also live music, sidewalk performers, countless restaurants and shops. Definitely something for everyone.
  • What a fabulous farmers market. It was filled with booths of all kinds. From artisan breads, fresh produce, hand crafted jewelry, goat milk soap and so much more. It was wonderful to be in market square. There were so many shops and restaurants with an urban trendy style. I loved my experience there. There was even a water feature for the kids to cool off in.
  • A plethora of things to do within a two block radius of this location. The farmer's market on Saturdays, when in season, is a great place to find many fresh options. Scary busy on a game day. Free parking after six and on weekends on many of the streets in the area. Lots of food and drink options to make any palate happy.
  • Scenic and full of life. Market Square is the perfect place to meet, socialise, and stop for drinks. 'Craft local beers', as well as 'locally grown' is a staple at Market Square and you should expect nothing less.
  • I love walking downtown Knoxville and seeing market square all lit up, esp around the holidays. Very relaxing and quaint place to go.
