  • The hiking is okay - its the history of this place that is really the attraction. The visitors center tells the story of how the area was used by soldiers during the Civil War. Worth the trip for hist...  more »
  • Boy Scout campout. This is a great campground at a State Park. Very quiet and lots of trails and lakes to hike and visit. Views are nice and the staff is great.  more »
  • This place is nice, Camp Host is great. We finally got to have a fire because he blew big radius around the firepits. Upper Midwest is dry and fire prone this year. Again super camp host!  more »

  • Great place for some fall hiking! Drove an hour to get here and it was well worth it! Not much wild life at this time of year, but plenty to see! We'll be back for sure!
  • It was a nice area for a picnic along the way. Since it was off-season, the restrooms were closed, but the area was still well maintained.
  • This park is pretty convenient for me, offers some scenic trails for running, only one mountain bike trail (single track, around a 6 mile loop but there's a few alternate trails to mix it up a bit) lots of picnic areas, streams, playground, open areas. Can be a decent spot to hunt morels if you know where to look and you beat the crowds.
  • The campsites are nice. Very roomy. The facilities are excellent and all of the staff were very friendly. The only reason 3 stars is because of the huge raccoon problem. We had all food put away in the car and still had raccoons trying to get in our tent! One even managed to open the zipper and get in as I was dozing off. If it was just a few that would be fine but it was 5-10 an hour from midnight to 5 a.m. They should really consider doing something to decrease the population.
  • Camping there is horrible. If you are you and in your 20's park rangers will just harass you all night and then just sit in you on the dark. Which is creepy and did not make me feel safe. If you're looking to go camping and to have a good time this is not your place they'll nag you the whole time. Worst place I've ever went camping and I'll never go back. If you're young STAY AWAY. I guess being young and wanting to have fun while camping is a criminal act. Not worth giving them my money .
