  • Close to our hotel for some fishing. Didn't catch anything but enjoyed just sitting and watching the ocean.
  • Great place to get a different perspective of the rough ocean. Very long pier and lots of room. Only $2 to sightsee, can rent poles and get daily passes.
  • We visited here on September 28 2016. It costs $2 a person to sightsee, and $12 a person to fish the pier. Because of the tropical storms that just happened to passed through this area, the fishing he...  read more »
  • Avalon Pier is a very wonderful pier! I just read a comment that said, "The worst fishing pier I have ever been to." That's just crazy. The pier produces both big and large fish regularly, there is great food and beer too. They have a large parking area and the counter people are super friendly. I'd love to hear what pier the commenter likes. As a season pass holder, I can tell you all of this with confidence. Each fishing pier has it's own personality and I've been to them all on the OBX. I definitely feel more welcomed there than any of them.
  • Great fishing pier. Took my son there many times during our week vacation. We caught lots of blue fish and a few large spanish and a couple large sting rays. Even got lucky enough to catch two cobia. One was 34.5lb. Staff on the pier was excellent and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking to catch some fish. The early mornings were typically the best time.
  • Walk out on the Avalon Fishing Pier to enjoy a slower pace of life. The views from the pier are breath taking. You can look over the side at the crystal clear water or look up into the sky and marvel for hours. Yes, they have an arcade and pool tables in the store. One of my favorite memories was when I played my dad in a game of pool and it took an hour because we were both trying to let the other one win.
  • Fishing wasn't the best. Barely any bites. The customer service was not what we expected. They were kinda rude. When my kids played an arcade game called Big Bass Wheel they landed on 1000 tickets and it only gave them 15. We told the lady and she did nothing about it. If you play that game you will guaranteed get rigged. Other than poor customer service it is a nice place to take your family.
  • It's a fishing pier in a non-tourist trap area of OBX. It's cool, old school vacation style without any of the flash or flare that you're going to get in a tourist area. I like it. It's got some games and things to do. Sells beer. You can fish there without needing a license.
