  • Avalon Pier is a very wonderful pier! I just read a comment that said, "The worst fishing pier I have ever been to." That's just crazy. The pier produces both big and large fish regularly, there is great food and beer too. They have a large parking area and the counter people are super friendly. I'd love to hear what pier the commenter likes. As a season pass holder, I can tell you all of this with confidence. Each fishing pier has it's own personality and I've been to them all on the OBX. I definitely feel more welcomed there than any of them.
  • Great fishing pier. Took my son there many times during our week vacation. We caught lots of blue fish and a few large spanish and a couple large sting rays. Even got lucky enough to catch two cobia. One was 34.5lb. Staff on the pier was excellent and friendly. Would recommend to anyone looking to catch some fish. The early mornings were typically the best time.
  • It's a fishing pier in a non-tourist trap area of OBX. It's cool, old school vacation style without any of the flash or flare that you're going to get in a tourist area. I like it. It's got some games and things to do. Sells beer. You can fish there without needing a license.
  • A man gets harassed (by an employee who is drinking beer on the job), for having a service animal. I would never go to a business that treats customers or service animals that way, or having a drunk employee walking around. Disgusting!
  • Walk out on the Avalon Fishing Pier to enjoy a slower pace of life. The views from the pier are breath taking. You can look over the side at the crystal clear water or look up into the sky and marvel for hours. Yes, they have an arcade and pool tables in the store. One of my favorite memories was when I played my dad in a game of pool and it took an hour because we were both trying to let the other one win.
