  • Seriously, what can be said about butterfly's? There were a ton of them and most were beautiful. You can also learn a bit about their life cycle. Not a place I would go to every time I visit Key West ...  more »
  • Visited KW in October for the 13th time in last 15 years. While we have stopped in at the Butterfly conservatory to browse the gift shop, we had never taken a tour of the butterfly area. It was a rain...  more »

  • This is THE must see of the island. Even if you are in Key West just to drink and party, this peaceful place is a wonderful way to recharge before going back out to the bars. Imagine, if you will, Dorothy opening the door to her house and being amazed by the colors of Oz. it's like that when you open the door into the conservatory. Butterflies flit around and fill your view. It's almost too much to take in all at once. Fortunately you can move at your own pace through the place and take it all in. It's not just butterflies either. Birds, turtles, fish, and a friendly and knowledgeable staff inhabit the place.
  • If you're into butterflies and birds, this place is a sneak peak into Paradise! Hundreds of butterflies flying around you, exotic bird species, turtles, fishes, and a flamingo couple make the space absolutely charming! The staff are knowledgeable and take time to chat about the animals and science. The store front has some unique souvenirs and gifts. Worth the money and time!
  • I liked it! It's a small pavilion, filled with lots of butterflies, different kinds of birds and parrot who wasn't afraid of us and even talked to us. Be careful, watch your steps, there are small birds walking around. We spent less than an hour, but it was a nice experience! And we came at 9 am and there were only us - perfect!
  • I was a little skeptical at first as to whether I would like this as a guy haha but I really had a good time. It's not very large but there are a TON of butterflies and other animals and throughout. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and was answering questions. You tour / walk at your own pace so you can stay for as long or as little as you want but I would consider this a must-do if you're in the keys for a while.
  • Lovely place, full of butterflies and birds, as well as families with small kids when we went... unfortunately the parents around us weren't paying attention and we saw a couple of butterflies injured but that's not the conservatory's fault. Great gift shop/boutique as well, beautiful stuff for anyone who loves butterflies.
