  • Great little center that is very informational. You'll learn a lot about the local ecosystem and the animals that inhabit it. Free, so makes a great stop before or after Fort Zachary park. Definitely not only for the kids.
  • We saw this was free and had to stop in. Friendly staff and is pretty great small museum to see while in Key West!
  • Staff and rangers very friendly and informative. Nice place to go especially on a rainy day. Plus it's free. They have educational programs for children which I think would be worth looking into.
  • This is a very informative nature center. We homeschooled in Florida, and studied for a number of state level environmental competitions, and I must say that the information about the ecosystems is spot on. Great movie worth waiting for as well. All free, but donations appreciated. Worth the stop to learn about Florida!
  • One of the best completely free attractions in Key West. They have a lot of good information for non-locals and some nice live marine life exhibits. One of the best things there is the video on Coral Reefs in the Keys.

Where to stay in Key West

To explore the best of what Key West has to offer on foot, stay near Old Town, a picturesque neighborhood famous for its streets lined with tropical trees and gardens. Most hotels in this area feature rooftop decks, where you can meet friends for cocktails and enjoy ocean views at sunset. If you don't mind driving to where most of the action is, consider staying at a budget-priced inn or bed and breakfast on the eastern end of the island.
