  • We took our 4 year old son here as a reward and he loved every minute of it. He loves trains and my husband loves anything that has to do with the civil war so it was a win win situation. I was surpri...  more »
  • We took our 4-year-old grandson here and he enjoyed it. He especially liked seeing the locomotive and the children’s interactive area. Interesting for adults, too!  more »
  • The highlight of the museum is seeing "The General" locomotive. One Saturday in July you can actually climb on board - so check the date. You can also learn about the history of the Glover Machine Wor...  more »

  • Absolutely loved this place. The kindest people working here. The history was fabulous. An amazing gem. I highly recommend it! Go see the General & learn about the great locomotive Chase fur yourself!
  • We really enjoy the Southern Museum. It's called the train museum in our house as our 2 year old loves trains and we enjoy the transportation aspect and proximity to the tracks. We go to mommy and me and also just to play in the education center. There's a nice little playground across the street and plenty of dining options around in walking distance.
  • I have a membership here and take my 1.5 year old son for Mommy and Me Story Time on Thursdays. It's a great program. The story time is geared at kids a bit older, 3-5. But they also have 3 crafts that are perfect for my son. They bring out extra toys that go with the theme of the week. We have attended special events: Halloween, Polar Express, and Trains Trains Trains!. Those are great also, sometimes quite busy. We come on rainy days for a good indoor area to move around and play with trains or the toy kitchen and blocks. For people visiting Kennesaw, it's a neat and interesting museum to peruse. I brought my dad and he could have spent all day there! There's a caboose you can go inside and look around. I think they're working on funding to fix it up. The only downside is the parking, it's fine for a normal day, but for big events, it fills up fast. And if the weather is bad, it's a few minutes walk uphill to get inside, which can be quite a challenge while carrying children/umbrella/diaperbag.
  • This place is a must see for any southern history and/or train buff. Partially supported by the Smithsonian, this is the real deal. Awesome spot for kids. This weekend was the trains trains trains model train exhibit, which was incredible. Can't wait to go back and look at the actual museum exhibits. Great souvenir shop, too, with all about trains trains trains, of course.
  • I’m in Georgia from Michigan, and was just looking for little museums to go to while I was down here. With the tickets only being $7.50 I didn’t expect much but this museum blew me away. So much to see and learn, very well kept and clean, and the staff was extremely welcoming.
