Love the island and the state park. KI is more relaxed and less party than the neighboring putt in bay. Great place to get away and offers a fantastic harbor to swim and fish.
Great park but customer service was less than satisfying. Maintenence staff mowed the grass in the camping areas before 9 AM. During our stay the bathroom ran out of toilet paper in all stalls of our nearest bathroom for 24 hrs. Campsites could have used more trees in general. Otherwise, the island was wonderful.
This park has a beautiful view, especially from the pier by the public beach. There's not much to do, but my husband and I enjoyed the Glacial Grooves (it doesn't take much time) and the beach. I wish we could say something about the hiking, but I was a bit crippled that trip.
Note the glacial grooves are on the left hand side of the road when you enter the park off of a small parking lot. If you drive further back, the road loops and there's hiking trails you can take. Very beautiful!
Decent place to visit and relax. If one is looking to have fun in the water or beach, then there are other and better places by lake Erie
