I have been to Hawaii six times. Never been to Kauai. Wow what a cool fun place. Flying over the Na Pali coast, definitely bucket list material.  more »

It was a great boat adventure. I got motion sickness and the captain went above and beyond to make me feel better. He helped me to the nearest rock where I was able to sit and rest while the others sn...  more »

Makai was so fun! The boat was the perfect size! We were able to go into the caves, stop and see dolphin, seals, and turtles and stop in a nice calm spot to snorkel. He drove very smoothly and made th...  more »

Nice captain and crew. We chartered the catamaran for our family. Great way to see the coast at Sunset.

My husband and I wanted to go whale watching while in Kauai, but it looked like a lot of the other outfits were on big boats with a lot of people and included a snorkel trip, which we didn't want. Luckily we were able to find Napali Makai. The boat is much smaller, so you have a more personal experience. We were able to spot a pod of 4 to 5 whales relatively quickly. We continued to spot this pod several times during our excursion. We loved our experience with Captain Makai and would definitely use him again. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a smaller boat with a more personal experience.

I have been on one of the big boat cruises up the Napali coast. It came complete with canned speeches & bad food & distant views. This is the opposite --You will connect with nature. Makai will answer any question communicating his deep knowledge of the ocean and the mountains. He is attentive and can sense what you want. Go by your self, or charter the boat -- it is all good. Your $ and time is better spent on the ocean than in a noisy helicopter flying around for an hr. I tried that too.

What was so nice about the Napali Makai tour was the fact that we got to choose where and what we did! We had done the cookie cutter "Big Boat" tours in the past and really only got a glimpse of the coast. After Makai, we now feel like we've truly "Experienced" the coastline. Best trip ever! Thank you!
