  • This was quite off the beaten path and not especially walkable, but the history was very interesting to me, and the view from the lookout is gorgeous!
  • Only minutes from Lihue. The overlook from Hulemalu Road is excellent. Do your read-up on this fish pond, built nearly 1000 years ago. Worth a detour....
  • The menahune fishpond is a traditional Hawaiian spot to visit on Kauai. It's is an ancient fishpond for fish farming for Hawaiian ali'i (royalty). You can see it from Hulemalu road. If you are in Nawiliwili harbor, follow the road up the hill. Also you will see the Nawiliwili stream ( raiders of the lost Ark) and Kipu range. ( the descendants.) great overlook.
