Ke'e Beach, Kauai
(4.6/5 based on 460+ reviews on the web)
With its clear sea, greenery, and marine life, Ke'e Beach offers everything you would expect from a tropical paradise. According to the legend, the beach was the birthplace of hula dancing. You can hike coastal trails, swim, and watch the sunset here. Don't miss the opportunity to put on your snorkeling gear so you can see the colorful reef fish. The beach facilities include restrooms and showers, as well as a parking area. Due to the beach's popularity, finding a parking space can be tricky. Keep in mind that the beach is occasionally exposed to high surf that generates strong current; swimming and snorkeling during those times can be very perilous. • Definitely one of the most famous beaches of the island because the starting point of the Kalalau Trail. The presence of lifeguard makes it safer to swim even though the water was absolutely quiet. Beautiful return from Kalalau Trail, lie on the warm sand and dive into the water to wash off the mud. Careful parking very small so arrive early and be careful not to leave valuables in sight on the machine, the thefts are frequent

  • Ke'e Beach was a wonderful surprise. The parking is tough and either you get there early or lucky to get a spot. The weather was perfect, water was clear and warm, and the fish and turtles were all ov...  more »
  • You can not go any further in a car on the north shore. The road ends at a lifeguard shack. The beach is really nice, but the day we drove out, it was closed to snorkeling. Kind of a bummer after driv...  more »

  • Lovely beach! Snorkel reefs right by the sand. Safe for kids. They could just play in the sand all day. There are trees to provide shades. Beautiful mountain views surrounding the beach. Hikers just take dips in water after their hikes. Filled up easily in the afternoons. Parking is limited due to crowds. We just dropped off our beach gear, one person parked and the rest enjoyed the swim in nice blue water. Favorite beach so far! A little bit of a narrow and long drive, but local speed limit is 10-25mph so isn't so bad. Life guards were stationed there as well. Bathroom and rinse station. We ended up spending all day there and the kid just passed out in the car home... Very good time!
  • Great beach to relax after a hike along the Kalalau Trail. Sand is fine, although can be quite hot, so good thing the water is nice and refreshing. Lifeguards are well-situated to handle any issues. Occasionally seals will come up and sun themselves right on the beach. Parking is a bit of a mess between the limited paved spaces and the mangled, rocky lots, so plan to come early.
  • Came here during a storm and made it feel super raw and rugged. Big waves were great to watch from under the thick trees as it rained. A fun thing to do if the weather isn't in your favor for sun bathing and relaxing.
  • Great snorkeling if you walk to the right (facing the ocean) and allow the current to bring you back to ke'e. There is a trail to the left side of the beach that brings you to a secluded, small set of two beaches and also has excellent snorkeling in the mornings when the water and wind are calmer.
  • My favorite beach in the world! Compact, but absolutely perfect in every way. Not only is the climate perfect (most of the time!), but it has a scenic mountain range with a challenging hiking trail behind it. The beach is good for snorkeling, with a fair amount of coral reef to attract fish, urchins, eels and more. And the outer part of the beach break is good surfing in the winter.
