Create an itinerary including Tunnels Beach
Views of canyons and lush green maquis sculpt the backdrop at Tunnels Beach. The crescent-shaped beach and its large reef provide an excellent spot for diving and snorkeling, as the reef creates a barrier from the strong currents arriving from the north shore. Admire the jagged canyons and deep valleys eroded over time due to heavy rainfall. The volcanic formation of the island, visible through the underwater caverns formed from lava tubes, makes the beach an ideal snorkeling spot. Surfers can also benefit from the impressive waves beyond the reef. Try scuba diving and explore the inner and outer coral reefs, home to immense marine life, including sea turtles. • Parking is very limited but once you get here this is by far one of my favorite beaches on the island! You can't beat the background views And the reef protects you while swimming and the water is so clear and a beautiful turquoise blue!
  • Beautiful beach with a lot of protected beautiful natural reef areas to snorkel. Unfortunately, winter waves were beautiful but were too violent to snorkel. Great for advance surfers. Would definitely come back during summer time!
  • This is an amazing beach! It is a must, you have to drive to here is a little far, you can find a parking lot, bathrooms, and a beautiful beach with a spectacular view… to go into the water you will find rocks, if you can wear water shoes or beach shoes will be better, not a big deal but make it easy, if you have your snorkeling equipments will be great! Water is warm and beautiful , you can get a beautiful pictures!
  • Cool beach on the North Shore of Kauai. It’s a pretty scenic drive with lots of winding roads and one way bridges. Parking is limited but if you get parking your golden. There’s also a cool cave right across the street. They have restrooms, a few picnic tables in a grass area and the beach is a quick walk to the sand. Sand is soft but the shallow part has little rocks so not as soft on the feet but definitely not super uncomfortable either. They even had a food/snack truck which is always a plus since there are no restaurants or stores within walking distance.
  • Absolutely stunning views 😍💜 I mean, all views in Hawaii are absolutely stunning and beautiful. But this is one of my favorites, for sure. Parking is SUPER limited. We actually had an airbnb not too far from this area, so we got lucky there. You may honestly have to show up super early before the crowd starts showing up, or park further down the road (either direction) and just walk to the beach. Or even keep driving around the "block" until a spot becomes available. ALSO!!! There is a cave (literally can't miss it) right across the street from the parking lot. Explore this cave before enjoying some time on the beach :) It is called Maniniholo Dry Cave. I've included a photo of my boyfriend being silly in the cave. **BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU PARK!** They WILL give you a $200 ticket for parking in spots not designated for parking. We watched SO many people getting parking tickets. Just be mindful is all.
