This makes for a worthwhile quick stop. We didn't stay long at all but still I was glad that we stopped and took it in.

If you pulled over to look at the Wailua River this site is to the right of that parking area. I would not go out of your way to stop here however the two together are nice. The view of the river...

A very peaceful location. Our giude was a volunteer and very knowledgeable. A great experience and history.
-
Beautiful historical site with an overlook of a sacred mountain.

Great drive through lookout point. Nice place to stop before or after visiting Opaekaa Falls. On a clear day can see the Pacific Ocean from the Wailua River State Park. There are State of Hawaii signage to help explain what you are seeing as you are standing to look out on. #AccessbilityFriendly - can easily drive and park to look out from your car (get a SUV or minivan) if you are elderly or in a wheelchair. If you are with a baby or toddler, this lookout point is also great to either get out of the car and quickly take a peek while your wee one is sleeping. This is also a great place if you want to see a lot of wild chickens. They are all over the lawn area and around the picnic tables scavenging for food.

This is a nice place to visit with lots of roosters and chickens hanging around to welcome you. The ancient heiau place of worship is one of 7 streaching along the wailua river. Up the street you can visit opaeka'a falls.
-
Decent lookout but not so good parking. There is restroom here for taking a break.
