  • We drove down to the area and faced locked gates. Called the number listed and were told the museum is in a lawsuit with the State of Hawaii and is closed at this time.  more »

  • If you're anything like me you love flying and watching the big planes take off and land. I think it's awesome to think about how something so huge can get off the ground and fly, I just love it.
  • The best museum for children ever. My kids would beg to go there where you could touch and sit in the aircraft and equipment. The P3 Orion is originally from NAS Barbers Point. My wife actually flew on it many years ago. We got to land there for my last reenlistment they treated us like family.
  • A quaint and small museum with a good number of aircraft to climb on and in. There are some military aircraft but also an DC-8/60 that you can touch and get inside of. Why does this matter? The DC-8 and Boeing 707 were revolutionary jet aircraft that changed the way people traveled. There are few left flying and this is one you can get inside of. There are a number of rotary winged aircraft (HH-3, HH-53, UH-1 and more) to get inside of. There is also a collection of fixed wing aircraft that include some A-4s, a F-4 and propeller aircraft (there is a DC-6 that is not museum property but you can sneak off and see this old bird). All the aircraft are on the ramp, so on warm or sunny days bring water as you will get warm. There are also some Army tanks and artillery pieces outside you can clamber over, but again bring water and be prepared. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable, bathrooms are there. A good place to take the family.
  • This is a great museum. Looking at it from the satalite picture I wasn't really expecting to have as great as an experience as we did. I thought it was like other similar places I've been where they have some planes on display with some plaques where you walk around and look at them. This was nothing like that. We had a one on one Tour with the historian there. He told all about the aircraft and let us go in all of them. A humvee was used to Transport us around to the different areas. Our guide even told us some fun personal stories. If I could rate this higher than five stars I would. What a great experience.
  • They are usually closed and open upon request basis. I made a phone call several times and parson called "Brad" pick-up the call for appoint ment. However he did not or unable to set the time for my visit and he said "I'll call back for a guide to schedule" or "Call me back at evening for schadule" for NOT actually set the schedule of time and date of my visit. If you're going to this place. I recommend make a phone call first and make reservation for time and date with good promise with Brad. Otherwise, there is no chance to get inside of the museum.
