Union Station, Kansas City
(4.5/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web)
Visit a science museum and catch a train, all in one building at the lovingly restored Union Station. The station was heavily used when it was built in 1914, but fell into disrepair after World Word II until it was closed in 1985. After almost 20 years of neglect, the station reopened in 1999, after significant renovation. Now the station is a cultural and transportation hub, featuring museums such as Science City, a 3-D movie theater, and a large planetarium. • Legal station, with restaurants and offices. Noes and compares to other such as London. But it's a beautiful building. Expensive restaurants and subway with small but free line

  • When in Kansas City at the holidays, whether you come through on the train, or you come in by car, this is one of the most beautiful stops to take a look at. They do a great job decorating every year to get people into the holiday spirit. (This train station has a storied history that comes with it, that will chill you to the bone, but is fun to hear.) There are some great little restaurant's, shops, etc... to partake in, just make note of the hours and if there is construction going on. So you can catch it at the right time to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.
  • I've been to Union Station a dozen times and it still impresses me. Gorgeous architecture and a good amount of history are on display. Walk through the halls and look at all the photos from the construction. Science City is always fun for the kids. We've been to several exhibits that Union Station brings in, and they have all been very good!
  • I love history and love sharing it with my grandchildren and my entire family science city and all the other things you can see and do is great for the whole family both young and old and the building itself is a piece Of beautiful architecture that shows just what Kansas City was in a great era don't miss out and go as soon as you can and the union station membership is a great value an we highly recommend a visit when you come to Kansas City we love it!!! And if you love history we know you will too. The Schmidt family
  • My Anatomy II class at Hannibal H.S. recently attended the "Body Worlds Exhibit" at Union Station in Kansas City and absolutely loved it. The Union Station personal that handled our tour were extremely helpful and made our visit a breeze. The Body Worlds exhibit alone is so well done and my students loved being able to do the tour at their own pace to be able to hone in on their area of interest. The whole experience was made extremely user friendly by the Union Station personel and their attention to detail.
  • Incredibly well restored and maintained. We go there often for brunch, the huge model train display, the Christmas decorations or just to wander about. One of our favorite places in the heart of the city.
