  • I could not give 5 stars due to the fact that the ROOF TOP hot tub was out of service!! The hot tub was supposed to be the "icing on the cake" for my surprise birthday stay. I feel we should have been notified prior to our stay (I had to PAY IN FULL when I booked 2 MONTHS PRIOR). If nothing else, a slight discount on the $254 per night fee might have been offered. And since they were informed that it was a birthday celebration, they could have offered a small gesture, such as a note... or better yet, saying happy birthday upon arrival. As for the food.....5 stars. Wait staff did very well given the fact that they were servicing more table than they should have. The castle itself was very beautiful. We loved our room.
  • Planned a visit including the wine tour and dinner and honestly I can't stop referring people to visit . It is such a gorgeous castle and a beautiful history to it !! Everyone was friendly and dinner was wonderful. I don't seem to understand how any one can give it bad reviews!! It is a perfect getaway !!
  • Purchased a romance package for our 1 year anniversary. To start with the good, the wine, chocolate covered strawberries, and the rose were all very lovely. The bad was that the bed at my house is nicer than the old, sinking bed that they had in their room. We thought we had a room in the "castle" but our room was in some random house down the hill and across the street. No one ever mentioned this to us when we booked the room. The bedroom we had appeared to have wall paper that had been painted over, there was no ceiling light, just two small and not very bright lamps. The bathtub was outdated and a tad grungy looking. I don't doubt they cleaned it, it was just very old. Breakfast was okay but we had to wait 20 minutes for refills on coffee and for marmalade for our toast. It was presented well but if it had not been included I would have been extremely disappointed in the small portions and lackluster flavor. No one was at the desk for our checkout. We waited 20 minutes to be told that we could just leave the key. We asked for a receipt and they said they could just email it to us. Then they walked away. We never found when or where to go for our included tour because no one was there to talk to us. The desk was supposed to be open at 9. We ended up leaving it finally at 9:30. Could be nice but we felt our money would have been better spent at a holiday inn to be honest.
  • I stayed in the new bed and breakfast, it was what we expected based on the reviews we read. There were little maintenance issues everywhere, like, wallpaper peeling, paint chipped, door trim chipped, etc. It felt like we were staying in a home though which was nice. We called the front desk several times with no answer and so we went to the desk and no one was there. There was a lot of confusion as to what was available/complementary to guests. It seemed like there was a lot of new staff that wasn't sure how to answer questions. It has a lot of potential if they just made it a little more like a hotel. Also they should call it Henderson Mansion Inn, it hardly feels like a castle on the inside, and its a stretch to say it looks like a castle from the outside. Okay on to the positive- the staff was all very friendly and nice, and they tried their best to be helpful. The sauna on the third floor and the hot tub on the roof are a must! Simply amazing to be up there as the sun goes down. The soaps, conditioners, and lotions they have smell amazing. The breakfast was a great price for three small courses and the way they presented it was extra special, and had impeccable timing. Breakfast is also available on the porch. The grapes on the hill and winery are a very nice touch, we were sad to leave but I am not sure I would take anyone there that I was trying to impress.
  • Pleasant experience, the food was good but to call a seven course with what we were served was a little lacking. Too long of time waiting between courses. A talented young woman played the piano in our dining room, but it was loud unfortunately. Then in the other half of the dining room that was not divided with anything other than painted stand up screens was the Dinner Murder Mystery. The commotion and loud conversations with that made table conversation near to impossible. The loudness gave my husband a ringing headache. At one point I really considered requesting another table in a differ room, but then decided against it. We were given a generous gift certificate as an anniversary present and we had decent time, but felt once was enough to visit. Interesting place. Other reviews indicate that some things at the Castle need attention. We felt the grounds though somewhat attractive could be so much more with not a lot of work. I would not want to pay big bucks for a wedding there.
