  • Gene's is a tradition that we will carry on with our new child. Gene's has a large selection of pumpkins and they are very affordable compared to other places. Gene himself is great and loves to chat while paying for your purchases. The only reason I am giving it four stars is due to the fact that Gene buys pumpkins from other farms. I was a bit disappointed when a semi pulled up with thousands of pumpkins with another farm's name on the side of it. I understand that Gene himself is an older man and can't grow and pick the pumpkins but I feel the pumpkin patch is a bit misleading. Overall a great place and awesome atmosphere. Regardless of where he gets his pumpkins.. we will be back next year.
  • This place is wonderful. Took the kids to get pumpkins this year and they were celebrating 60 years (10-07-2017). They have a grass parking area so people with mobility issues should be aware it's grass, but there is a lot of space to load, unload and move around so wheel chairs and walkers should be good. This year they also have pink pumpkins and $0.25 of every pumpkin sold goes towards cancer research. They have gourds, pumpkins and squash of many varieties. Including ornamental kinds. They also had some honey for sale and some flowers. The prices are very reasonable. We spent $38 for 5 very large pumpkins. The pie pumpkins were $1.50 and the rare variety of pie pumpkins were $2 (I think? Maybe 2.50). Ornamental baby pumpkins were $0.50.
  • Love our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. There is so much history here. Gene is a fascinating person to talk to, a wealth of knowledge about local history. There is so much more than just pumpkins to choose from. Fun place, definitely well worth a visit.
  • This pumpkin man is a Kalamazoo icon, and a necessary seasonal visit for anyone in Kalamazoo- native or passing through. There is always a plethora of pumpkins to choose from, as well as squash, gourds, honey, etc. It's a great pastime picking out a pumpkin here, and maybe sneaking a peek at a few cows while at it!
  • Gene's should be the ONLY place you but a pumpkin. I've gone to Gene since 2004, and absolutely love the atmosphere. The man loves his pumpkins! Thanks the family and do Halloween right.
