  • The road is shaded for quite a distance by large eucalyptus trees which were planted over 100 years ago.  more »
  • Wonderful way to travel from Lihue to Hawaii Beach Resort. Reminds me of many tree tunnels in West Michigan  more »
  • We drove on this road on our way from our hotel to Poipu. Road was beautiful lined with overhanging trees. It's a short drive but worth taking pictures.  more »

  • The gate way to the south Shore this 1 mile stretch of rodwsy, canopied by eucalyptus trees was once 3 miles long. While there ate many theories regarding this inspirin natural wonder, lining a section of rosd wit trees was once a way of signifying the entrance to royal lands. Traveling west on KaumuAlii highway, just outside of Lihue town, Maluhia Rd is your passageway to old Koloa town and Poipu. Take your time down this scenic section of highway, keeping an eye out for the occasional courageous tourist trying to capture the perfect shot for their indtagram, snap chat or facebook. Some believe the trees were planted to help stabilize the marshy lands, others as a wind break for the cane field of yesteryear, but whatever reason for their exietence, they now tower over us as reminders of the healing of cyclical power of nature, having endured and regrow the full canopy after the devastation of 2 hurricanes. • Awesome tree tunnel. It means you're entering or exiting what was once royal land!
  • The Tunnel of Trees is beautiful and so very nice to drive through, especially when the sun shines through the leaves.
  • Beautiful gateway to Koloa and Poipu. Remember to be safe, the speed limit is 50mph. The road is narrow and only offers a few places to pull over for pictures outside of your car.
  • Very pretty for your first time in Hawaii
